Hey all,


Looking for advice on deglossing piano black trim. I know it looks classy but it's starting to annoy me mainly cos of the sun reflection. Has anyone else tried painting over?

Thoughts welcomed.

 

The slope can be changed out but it's not cheap. You could use wrap film. That way it's not permanent but would do the job.

 

wrap it in a matte clear film. That might not look that bad.

 

if it is in perfect condition i suggest doing nothing,piano black is very desirable
and expensive to replace,maybe put an add out for straight swap for different finished slope ,or as said do a wrap hopefully without damaging it.

 

Agree that it can be annoying. Like the idea of wrapping it. Slope comes out easy enough and then when selling just peel it back off.

 

vinyl wrap it in something you like, carbon fiber, matte black, maybe an accent/stitching color, there are tons of options

The PB part is actually the shifter console piece. My slope is entirely CF.

Looks like wrap it is but the cigarette box lid has that curvy lip. Wonder if it's easy to wrap around that.

 

I live in Dubai where the sun shines pretty much all the time and the piano black REALLY annoyed me - every day. I wrapped it in carbon fibre wrap and it looks great. I can remove the wrap if and when I want to sell the car and it will be back to stock. Really happy I did it.

 

yes its pretty easy, a heat gun or high powered hair dryer helps a lot

I have the prism slope and it can be annoying enough with bright light, because it's bright. I drove a PB in Florida on a sunny day and it was annoying also. My favorite is the spiral turned but it could be just as annoying, and rarely seen anyway.

 

Definitely wrappable...
