Gen 1 DB9 oil capacity

I routinely do my own PM service on my car. My dealer did an oil change for me a while back and filled the engine oil to the top of the yellow indicator on the dipstick. When I change the oil myself at 12 quarts its slightly above the MAX line. At 13 quarts its at the top of the yellow indicator. As i understand it, the original 11 quart fill level was too low and even minor oil consumption could lead to oil starvation on cylinders #6 and 12. The recall called for a shorter dipstick bringing it to 12 quarts. So why would the dealer fill it to 13 and is 13 too much?

I think I used 11.5 on mine. Filled it right too the full mark on the short dipstick. Used Mobil 1 Synthetic

11.5 quarts should be a normal change without going over the correct FULL mark. 12 quarts should be max on pre 2013 V12. On 2013 up should be 12.5 to 13 quarts. Perhaps the dealer figured all V12s use 13? Regardless of MY. V12 Vantage is 13.5 just in case you run into that scenario.

Or the tech forgot when changing the oil and accidentally put 13 quarts in seems the likely scenario.

Would this cause any damage?

Doubtful for the amount overfilled, the owners book says it can though. 3-4quarts and up overfilled I could see some possible damage to oxygen sensors from extra oil. I doubt any mechanical damage would result from 1 extra quart. On V12 engines being damaged from 1 quart low it's more temperature related as any engine the heat transfer is biased toward the rear. The biggest problem is no piston oil jets to cool them.
