Cayenne Diesel oil capacity

Not that many US owners doing their own oil changes, and there are different numbers floating around the Internet. Most of them have to do with confusing quarts and liters. Being a DIY guy, I thought I'd help clarify
2013-2014 US-spec Cayenne Diesel engine oil capacity (including filter)
Liters: 7.3
Quarts: 7.7

And a short-cut for quart buyers; put in 8 quarts. The consolidated amount of oil that's left clinging to the inside of 8 bottles is about 0.3 quarts

I suppose this means you did your second change? Go smoother this time?

I abandoned the extractor method, could only get ~3/4 of the oil out before it starts sucking air. I can only conclude that the the cheap eBay extractor I bought has tubes that aren't flexible enough to get past an obstruction of some kind (baffle?)

I've reverted to the conventional drain plug method

Bummer. Sorry it didn't work out. I'm lazy so I'd like to go to the extraction method myself, but stories like your attempt and concerns about getting the sediment keep me leery.

Not looking forward to my second change. I need to do it when it comes out of the body shop and its gone and gotten cold out here.

dmilzoff is infamous around these parts
I use the extraction method three times so far and have been able to add a full 8 quarts after installation of a new filter.

You clearly bought a better grade of extractor than did I. I have a bad back, and didn't want one that had to be pumped by hand. I'm guessing that's what has given you success. Mine is just that cheap compressor type on eBay. No matter which tube I stick in that hole - and no matter how I push and twist - they still start sucking air after pulling out maybe 6 quarts. Plus, the advert claims it's supposed to pull " -12 psi", which it doesn't. Even with my 170psi, shop compressor, it isn't even pulling past 1/3 on the vacuum scale.

I put 7 bottles and a little more and I was one tick below full when the computer finally reported a measurement. I added it so I had half a bottle left and that did it.

I used the drain plug method, but the engine was a bit cold.

I have to upload my Blackstone results. They were fantastic!

Next time try changing hot oil. Mine was ~200F when I drained it. Given that 7 fresh quarts registered "below minimum" on the electronic dipstick, more must have drained out of mine than yours. I ended up adding the entire 8th qt to get the ED to the top. And yes, it showed full on the ED just prior to draining

i know it's better but circumstances dictated cold drain or no drain! I'll leave the half quart iin as a sacrifice to change. .
