Has this engine meltdown happened in the 2012+ models? Perhaps this only happens with the earlier models only?

Aston Martin sales in U.S. for 2005 to 2010 is about 6573 (all models) nor sure how many are V8V...maybe 70%?
so that's about 4601 cars. In EU, the total V8V/V12V sales were 8954 with likely 80% V8V? So that's another 7163 V8V...

So that's about 11,764 V8V...not sure how many bad engines out of that total... it's likely not the same as the IMS failures of the mid 2000's Porsche, but the engine failures with Porsche were in the $20-25000 range. The replaced engine in my Boxster was about $23k back in 2007.The failure rate was about 3 to 5% and still created allot of news and controversy...

Put all that together? I love my 2009 V8V ASM and drive it like i have no worries.

I just find it curious that it's 3 in the same year, all reported on this board, which is a smallish percentage of what's going on in the US, Of those 1000's of cars sold you have maybe 1% ish membership here. Real world could have many more melted 4.7's we'd never hear about. Or not, but it is curious when all 3 are specifically attributed to oiling issues.

Has there been any 4.3L engines affected I wonder? And the 3 that have been on here are on the East part of the US. Very strange findings indeed.

You read this board as much as anybody here and I haven't seen any 4.3 meltdowns reported. And in the 2 years prior to mine I don't remember any blown engines. Let's just hope it's coincidence and nothing more.

The dry sump system likely poses some differences that are not normal to most other cars... FWIW I let my cart warm up at least a few minutes in the mornings...i also live I warm Florida and never store the car over the winter...

always use OEM filters. When I lived up north, with our boats, etc, we always used fogging oil to keep cylinders coated...i wonder is this is needed for looking term storage and wonder how many V8V's with engine problems were stored long term?

I just remembered that rebuild thread, the Carillo rods, custom pistons, I don't recall if he ever stated a reason why he did the rebuild, in fact I think it was intentionally kept quiet.

My car is a DD, no storage, it melted down Super Bowl Sunday. I always make sure it's warm before I run anything over 4000, usually, but never run it hard until it's warm. It was warm and I was on a 4 mile cruise doing 40 in 3rd gear when mine started grinding.

Here are pictures of the seats. They appear worse than average. The dealer states that the dot "pattern" looks worse than it is. They don't think the you can restore or pull back the saggy leather to make it more taut.

Has anyone restored the saggy parts?

WTF happened to those?!

Somebody here had really sagging leather and found out it was because the conditioner was breaking up the foam underneath, they replaced the foam and they looked great. May be the same problem there?

blown motor, poorly worn seats, sounds like this car wasn't very well taken care of... are there service records?

Redone leather

Reminds me of my ex-wife - I'd have the seats professionally redone - DEMAND Weir Leather - my seat guy told me the leather he uses is better - it was not! Showed discoloring after a few months - the price was the same $5000 for both seats, keeping the good leather, replacing the bad, adding some cushioning, and then the Vanquish pattern probably was $1500 of that cost. Shortly after I demanded they replace the leather with the proper one they went out of business.

$5000 to redo the seats! That's expensive Prefurbia!

Cannonball, I'm kind of thinking the same as you.

That pattern is from the seat heater grids, those are horrible. 7 owners with a lot of friends! They could be fixed but for what price would be acceptable? I think you need to move on from this project car for $60k

59k for a 2009, whether it has a new motor or not doesn't seem like a good deal, especially work all the issues...

Yes that was me. I took my driver seat out and brought it to a leather shop and received a call the next day from the owner saying my foam had disentigrated and that there was a gooey substance behind the leather. After I shared the yearly application of leatherique that I massaged into the seats, he said the leatherique had destroyed the foam over he past 9 years. He replaced the foam and and stitched the seats back together. They are now 90% and I no longer use leatherique.
