Passenger Seat Heater

I have a 2007 Vantage and it has a buggered passenger seat heater, I am assuming the element. Can anyone assist with the manufacturer or an aftermarket one that would work, an original "Aston Martin" part was ludicrously expensive.

Basically the seat heating in an 07 consists of 3 functional parts:
the rear heating wire,

the bottom heating wire and the bottom thermocouple (the thing in the center).

On the heating itself, there are 2 things which can go wrong:
Broken wire in one of the cushions (should be possible to replace with a similar type of heat wire),
broken thermocouple, which will disturb the feedback loop (probably can be replaced by a skilled electrician as well?).

Of course also the switch and fuses need to be checked.

Basically you start with a classic error analysis working your way along the flow path of the electricity...

HTH,
Thomas

I believe these seat heaters were a recall item by Aston Martin.

There was a recall on the 07 for seat heaters that either didnt work or had a mind of their own . They added a secondary module under the seat that was supposed to fix it . My drivers side has never worked since and the pasenger side kinda sorta works . Frankly the seat heaters suck for an expensive car . The seat heaters in many other cheap cars work way better .
I gave up with mine as I really dont drive in cold weather and I certainly dont let the seat heaters spoil my driving experience .
Every time I hit the start button I get all warm n fuzzy anyway .

Well, a seat heating is usually not rocket science - it should be possible to install some reasonably priced aftemarket devices while still using the stock switch.

Were these issues fixed for all V8V's from 2008 on?

Throw a code? First thing is to disconnect the power at the battery. Negative cable as your dealing with the SRS. And you should invest in a diagnostic tool to check and clear afterwards. Foxwell is less than $200.

Thanks. I do have one but was concerned that it was connected to the body control unit and I would need to have an AMDS.
