2017 Aston Martin Vantage v12S purchase.

Hi All,

New here, I am thinking of pulling the trigger on this (link below). I think I have a good deal at $133,500 but the market is all over the place with this car.
It is almost perfect but lacking the dogleg. Sticker is $221k and only has 220 miles on it. Coming from 3 911's I am new to the AM world and a bit nervous with the depreciation if I don't love it. Am I overthinking this too much? Also, id replace the wheels instantly and sell the stock ones, if you have recommendations on a good wheel, Id be all ears to that too.

Michael

I bought one in January (same year & similar specs) and really love it - even the sportshift III once you get used to it is fabulous

I cant help you with comparisons to porsche as I've never owned one but these are epic cars and jsut an absolute blast to drive

hope you make a decision you are happy with

Graeme

Wheels....HRE or Brixton forged, other stock Aston wheels.
Depreciation....sure, just look at 2015 cars, off the cuff ~$6-8K per year (more if stocks tank).
Very nice looking car but the dealer description is off/generic, B&O tweeters are a step above 700 watt premium system.
IMO you may get some pricing flexibility and I would definitely negotiate as best you can on extending the warranty.

I just paid $145K for a 'left over" 2017 Metallic Silver with tan interior - far less options than yours - retail was about $205K, but the colors I wanted. I paid another $1200 for the glass buttons - mine had plastic, like 99% of the V12S have glass, so it was worth it. I had 6 Vantages over the past 11 years - 3 V8's and 2 v12S - I prefer the sportshift - just never press [D] and you're OK, always use the paddles and modulate the gas as if shifting manually. I also let it downshift on it's own which it seems fine.

Watch out for condensation in the lights - if you see it - replace them under warranty, both mine are being replaced.

I also paid up front for another year warranty, so it had some used and I now have about 3 1/2 years left. The first V12S was a deceptive sale, Aston replaced it with a better car at no charge - the second one was flawless and trouble free (a 2015). I prefer the old style panel, but having Apple Car play is great (make sure yours was updated - it should have it).

Those pics are horrible. So dark you can't see anything. Do the V12s always come with carbon fiber splitter and rear cover? It looks like these are the plastic, but I can't really tell.

The Aston is not going to hold value like the Porsche. If depreciation is a concern then you need to decide if you are willing to take the hit if you sell the car in the future. It's a 2017 and you see how much it has already come down in price.

The V12S is soooo much more special than any 911 - I'm walking distance from both the Aston dealer and the Porsche Dealer - I often take the latest 911 for a drive - I just don't get the appeal - sound terrible compared to the Aston (V12 or V8) is as common as any other car on theh street and looks OK, but not elegant like the Pre-2018 Vantages. The interior is cheap compared to the Vantage. Yes, it will be better on a track, but if your driving it on the street in everyday use, the Aston is far better. As far as the V12S - it will go down in value - right now it's awfully low because of the 2015 lease returns - far too many for sale, but eventually it will get back down to normal inventory. The V12S is the type of Aston that should hit classic status - it could be another decade, but when that happens prices will go up. I bought the 2017 V12S (traded in my 2015) because of the colors - it was NOT a great deal, but you only live once - get what your passion is. Black on black is not my deal on a V12S - but when clean is a mean looking machine - I went for Silver and tan - elegance. When I drive to a business meeting, pulling up in the Aston has the same mystique as when I used to fly my own plane to meetings - they don't question your abilities and the car (or plane) makes a very positive impression - and gives you a bit of small talk with business.

what you say is true, but the market says otherwise... crap *** basic Porsche's are holding their value while astons continue to plummet, probably the best value in the used car market right now at least... good for buyers, sellers not so much

Offer

Always offer lower than they are asking - I negotiated $10K less than they wanted - asking price will always be on the high side. The pictures show the B&O Stereo, the options they list do not, so they obviously are not a sophisticated dealer - asking $125K for a 2017 is a bit low, but worth a try.
