Dash panel removal

The leather is shrinking on the passenger airbag cover and it is bothering me. Do I need to disconnect the battery before I start to remove the panel? I am always hesitant when it comes to anything near an airbag.

Not according to the workshop manual. Glove box gets removed first and then the airbag cover can be removed. You shouldn't have to touch the airbag at all, just the dash cover.

The sticky, "How Do You Take This Panel Out?" is for exactly this issue. It's a great DIY that I'll be using this winter to fix my dash panel.
Hope this helps.
