Need Advice on 2011 DBS
Need Advice on 2011 DBS
I'm looking at a 2011 DBS Volante with 24K miles. Price is attractive, and routine maintenance appears to have been accomplished on schedule. 4 prior owners however, which is a bit of a turn off. N
on scheduled maintenance has been on suspension system 2 years ago, and 2 services on the electrical system in Jan and Feb of this year. I will do a PPI. Is there anything that I should be aware of or any advice that anyone can provide regarding this type of vehicle.
Thanks in advance.

FWIW... Change the oil often. That is, at least once a year, and if you are going to run it over 7500 miles, use Blackstone's oil analysis to monitor it. Oil is cheap, a new motor is not.
And, if you let someone else change it, mark the filter so you can tell they actually replaced it.

Change Automatic gearbox oil ZF 6HP26 every 6 years, obligatory !!! with 8 liters of ZF LifeGuard Fluid6 ... and its filter housing !

Looks for leather warping & shrinking on the top of the dash and shrinking at the top sides of the waterfall. Two sets of keys, owner manual, and umbrella. Have car put on a lift and look for leaks.
Look at the car fax, but be aware not everything is on a car fax, for example if it was a factory car (many used 'timeless certified' were), the car could have been in an accident on the track and Aston repaired it without disclosure. After I purchased a disastrous V12S which Aston Martin replaced (no charge) which was deceptive timeless certified, I inquired about another newer V12S at a seemingly good price. The dealer (who sold me the bad car) told me that I would not like that one because it was wrecked - the car fax nor the Aston Martin dealer (in Chicago) did not disclose the accident in their ad, but since we were in potential litigation at the time, they disclosed it to me. Even a privately owned with a minor accident might have had a 'cash' repair which might not show up in a car fax. That happened to me as one night I was one of a few cars actually shot at (in St. Louis Park, Minnesota!) and I needed some minor fender repair and a new chrome strake. My insurance agent did not even know how to process it, but as a favor, my Aston dealer fixed everything for what my deductible would cost! Needless to say a cash repair resulted in no car fax and related depreciation. The strake absorbed most of the bullet impact and the fender repair was only about 1/2 inch - but I could have had a major repair off of the books. Have someone go through the car to be safer. But as anything - buyer beware, even on an Aston purchase - with a past Aston Martin corporate ownership especially!
Thank you for the feedback.
The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on this one is the apparent precipitous drop in value of these cars. I am really lusting over this beautiful car, but I don't want to get screwed if I choose to sell it in 3-4 years. But I suppose that's the nature of AM ownership.
