Vantage Rear Shocks
Vantage Rear Shocks
Hi all, does anyone know if factory rear shocks from a 2009 V8V will fit on my 2006 Vantage? Wasn’t sure if they are compatible for replacements or if there are subtle differences where they won’t fit. Thanks.
I know the suspension manufacturers changed from multimatic to Bilstein from the early years to the refreshed 4.7L engine.
I'm not 100% they fit exactly, but when I had my suspension upgraded to KW coilovers the mechanics in the shop saw few differences in my 2007 versus their newer cars. They agreed the early 4.3L stock suspensions were horrible and needed to be changed.
Even if you could swap the shock to the newer Bilstein you'd still need to change out the springs so they match the new shock.

I exchanged the original shocks on my 07 V8V against the later 09+ Bilsteins, which I bought secondhand as a complete set (springs & dampers & upper mounting pads).
Fitted without problem, and I enjoy the Bilsteins comfort on every drive...
However, I would not mix old fronts and Bilstein rears - the damping characteristics and spring rates are quite different and may result in an odd drive.
