Michelin Tires

Everyone recommends the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s for the v8v. However, the rear tires are on backorder with no dates. They said another option is the Michelin A/S 3+ I have never heard of these. Has anyone tried both can comment on the differences? Are they similar all weather and similar costs? Do they both last as long for everday driving? I'm in So Cal.

Continental extreme contact sport is a good option. Almost as good as ps4s and cheaper. You wont notice the difference unless you drive to the limits alot

Had both the A/S3 and Conti's. Would go for the Conti's in your situation. P Zero Nero's you could consider too.

What do you do with the car? What aspects of the tire are important to you? Life, grip, feel, noise...

I was told earlier this week that the delay might be 10-12 weeks. I used to race Porsches, and slicks would never be shipped in the winter unless they were in heated containers since they would crack if they froze. Perhaps the PS4S is susceptible to cold too? I wonder if they are manufacturing the 2020 tires now and holding them for warmer weather to ship. Complete conjecture, but there you have it. I'm going to hold out for the PS4S, but that's easy to do when it's February in Minnesota!

I think you made the right call. I replaced a set of worn SuperSports with AS3+ on one of our cars a few years ago. As Rich mentioned, there's a huge difference in performance. The poor car was in tire purgatory for years after that decision.

I put AS3 tires on my SL55 because I don’t drive it very much and they were recommended because they don’t flat spot very much. I can tell you that I have had them on the car for about three years and maybe a thousand miles and they have not flat spotted.

I would say all of the above but I know it’s never like that. I don’t track the car but handling and grip is important to me. A quiet ride would be nice but usually not in these cars!

I've used the Michelin and can say they are top notch tires. Last year I decided to try out Nitto since I had them on my Jeep and really liked them, especially in the snow. I purchased the Nitto Invo, 245/40-19 and 285/35-19. I would recommend them as a summer tire, they have done well in the rain but not as good as the Michelin. Pretty close overall but I would probably go with the Michelin tires, price was the same.

Did you install the 245/285s on the stock 8.5/9.5" wheels? How was the fitment?

Just talked to Tirerack. They said Michelin stated they were starting production of the PS4S on 3/13. They expect first inventory to arrive in mid- to late- April.

Jl,

Have you tried someone other than TireRack? It could be location based but it sounds like they are giving you bad information. I ordered the PS4S from Discount Tire back on 26 February and had them installed on 29 February. Granted, these were the factory 19" wheels (235/40 F, 275/35 R) which may affect the availability. On a side note, I installed 285/35 on the rear last time and did not like they way they felt. I can't really describe how it felt other than just "weird". So I decided to go back to factory. One last thing, the PS4S are amazing...so long as it is above 35 degrees.
