Better known as a fart can. Mustang GT350 sounds so, so much better, like a true exotic engine. AMG sounds just the opposite. Can’t wait till that thing goes bye bye from the Aston portfolio.

The AMG V8 mated to the manual transmission is pretty compelling. The engine spins like a top and using the manual to work it is a blast.

Totally agree on the Mustang GT350!! A friend had one I drove it several times; amazing sound and engine performance. Too easy to drive like a demon in the Shelby. The clutch and shifting is as easy & light as driving a Civic.

If you think about it, a turbo engine that can evoke a strong emotion, positive or negative, is a rare thing these days. Most reviewers tout the AMG TTV8 as one of the best performing and sounding engines of all time. I have also seen frequent "fartcan" comments from NA die hard fans. My last car was an R8 V10 plus with a Kline exhaust, so lambo V10. I get it. But the farts in that car were also like gunshots, and the torque/shove of the AMG engine is intoxicating. Feels faster around town than the R8, which was actually ballistic.

There is room in the world for both. I just spoke to my local Porsche salesman and I'm thinking of getting the 4.0 flat 6 version of the Boxster. It would be great if Porsche would offer the Boxster 4.0 in the new 911. I wouldn't be shocked if they did.

Makes sense. Would differentiate the T from the others.... I, for one, would jump at a NA 911 with a 6 speed manual.

I would too. 911 T 6 speed with buckets and ceramics is what the last T should have been, I would know I owned a 991.2 T. I wouldnt hold my breath on a 6MT for a carrera range 911 tho.
With regards to the GT4/cayman gts 4.0. The problem with these cars is the transmission at this time. Gearing is too long and you cannot flat shift. Its not the GT3 transmission. Confirmed by JCR and others on rennlist.

Funny I was offered the 718 Spyder for sticker but I'm not sure I love the fiddly roof. It only rains here in the winter but it's so sunny in summer it's nice to have the roof and then lower in the evenings. I'm not sure I want to stop the car and get out each time I want to lower the roof. Sadly I'm too tall for the Cayman but I fit great in the Boxster.

Which reviewers said that engine is one of the best sounding of all time? Sounds better than a Ferrari V8? Better than a AM V8? Better than a Ford V8? Even the General has the better sounding V8 IMO.

Best sounding turbo engine. No comparison with NA. I forgot to add that qualifier, huge typo.

Better sounding than the TT Ferrari V8 in the Cali T & 488? I don't think so.

I think so. We can agree to disagree there. But I agree with your last point thats what I meant
As a matter of fact, a few buddies that have heard the 2020 vantage with secondary cat deletes say it sounds as good as my R8 v10 plus did. One of them has a 458 and a gt4.

Absolutely agree with this. AMG's have always sounded amazing to me and better than any other performance division out there. Even though I've owned more true M vehicles than true AMG's vehicles. Aston Martin took that engine and made it sound even more mental as far as I am concerned.
