i'm fortunate enough to own a vantage and a cayman. don't envy me too much they are both 2007 manual models. aston's got 20,000 miles on it and is meteorite silver w/black interior. the cayman's got 30,000 miles and is guard's red with tan interior. the paint on both is immaculate (not my doing, they were like that when i bought them. the cayman catches everyone's eye while the aston is easily overlooked (although i've gotten some double-takes once they see the grill...). i get questions on "what kind of porsche is it?" on the cayman and questions on "what kind of CAR is it?" on the aston.
short take on both: the handling on the cayman is remarkable and will not be all that noticeable until one takes it on a couple of two-lane country roads at speed. then it becomes immediately apparent. the aston, OTOH, is a nicer place to be due to its opulent interior. it feels slightly more powerful too. i find them both to be extremely attractive automobiles. their only rival being, IMO, the ferrari 360 modena coupe. oh, and even though porsche people complain about the cost of parts and service, well...compared to the aston, they know not of what they speak.
I had both 987 guards red boxster and 2009 vantage...
Topless or Tuxedo...
Since sold the Boxster, on the hunt for another one... miss the top down in the fall and winter...BTW, the tag "DBONAIR" was the tag from the previous owner, not mine! I'm far from debonair...
Yes they took the doors off. The difference in a decent wrap and epic wrap is all in the payroll. I could have wrapped the car for $3K with out jams, with out pulling the side vents, with out pulling the front and rear bumpers etc... Paid just over 5K and results are great. Only complaint is the durability of the wrap to small stone chips. Spend the extra for complete ppf after
I have a new Maxton front bumper, grill and splitter arriving tomorrow that will be wrapped then swapped out. Original bumper got scrapped as the car is lowered. Tore up some of the wrap. Excuse to modify the car again.
How do you like the Maxton parts? I'm thinking of getting the front splitter in gloss black
Possibly my favorite feature of my Quantum Silver V8 Vantage is how little attention it gets. My ideal car would be something that looks like an Aston/something beautiful to me but magically looks like a Honda Civic to everyone else on the road. All of my other sports cars are as muted, especially in color and spec, as I can make them with the exception of the requisite red Ferrari and truth be told, in the Bay Area, no one gives a crap about cars anyway.
I did once have a middle aged lady at light ask me if my Vantage was a Tesla which I found mildly insulting (in addition to ). I told her it indeed was a Tesla and gave it a few revs so she could hear how nice the new Teslas sound.

While showing a friend the DB9 motor outside of a restaurant, two ladies asked if it was an electric car (as they had just arrived in a golf cart). I said it was probably as far in the opposite direction from an electric car as you could possibly get. They seemed dumbfounded after that and no more questions were asked !
Well today was funny, I took the Vantage grocery shopping and I came up to a bunch of cars stopped at a red light. The people in the car next to me start trying to make out the badge on the wheels and they block all the traffic (people were honking at them) while asking me what car it is, while I kept saying "you know maybe you should go, the light is green".
I will say, this was an anomaly as typically most people completely ignore the car.
The elderly or black give the most complimentary nods to my Aston or any British car. They're always a fan. Other than those two groups, there's no consistency.
I have had a few people give me thumbs up in traffic, and one gentleman yelled “hey, James Bond, sweet car” at a light. Hah!
I find that almost everyone likes the car, but most don’t know what it is. It draws much less attention at cars and coffee than my ‘65 Mustang, but that’s a twin turbo restomod in Laguna Seca Blue vs my more subtle black Vantage.
I didn’t buy it for others opinions though. If everyone decides they hate it tomorrow, I could not care less.
Had a group of bicyclists stop next to me. Here in Florida, lots of militant cyclists... I usually drive with windows down... one guy said..."my Tesla's quicker..."
To which I responded by rolling up my window and increasing the throttle while waiting for the light to change...
gave them a little dose if good old hydrocarbon burning carbon monoxide and glorious symphony of 8 cylinders...

Have to love the "you are entitled to my unsolicited opinion" ! (i have nothing against cyclists - just poor attitudes)
Good for you on providing an appropriate soundtrack during your departure !

I've had my Vantage for about 2 years. I get approached and comments at least every other time I take the car out. Pretty much 100% of the time when I get gas, many times in parking lots and occasionally by somebody in the lane next to me frantically giving me the thumbs up. I was parked outside a Porsche dealer in my Vantage one day, and a guy comes out and gives me the thumbs up. I'd say at least a third of the time it is women saying how much the love the car. I've never had a bad experience with comments. Then again, I've had a lot of brightly colored cars. The funniest was some guy in a pick up truck chased me in my yellow Porsche for two sets of street lights and was frantically waving at me after he pulled abreast of meat a light. I was a bit hesitant but I eventually rolled the window down. He yells out, "That's the best looking Porsche I have ever seen! What did it cost?" I told him, he gave me the thumbs up and drove on.
I've put over 6000 miles on my Vantage in the past year going up and down the east coast. Doesn't matter where I am, I get questions like what kind of car is that? What color is that? How fast is it? Can I take a picture with it? Most people seem to genuinely like cars. I've never had a negative comment....(to my face, who know what gets said behind my back, LOL)
The only real problem with having a bright colored sports car is if you act like an *** driving, everybody knows who you are. There is no place to hide.
