Mystery dashboard light

I haven't been able to find in the manuals or handbook, an explanation as to what my DB9 dashboard is trying to tell me.On the speedometer dial there is a tiny orange/red light that seems to be on constantly when the engine is running. Should I go visit my bank manager, or is this something innocuous?

Previous owners high score for a speeding. Looks like a scratch or flaw in the speedometer face graphics.

Is there any message in the RH screen?

Ha Ha! This is a 2005 DB9.... yeah, there are always messages on the RH screen! But this stays on even after I clear the 'emission system check warning', the 'parking brake non-functioning' warning and the 'limp home in 5th gear warning!'
I haven't owned the car very long and am not sure if this was always there, and I didn't notice it until recently, or if it is emblematic of my current transmission problems.
The photo is not very clear as I apparently was shaking with excitement when I took it. If "J DoubleU's" idea is correct I am thinking I may need to invest in waterproof trousers for when I attempt my own speed record. .... 311kph ... hmmmm.... Ha Haaa!

That is where the check engine light is. See if there are any codes and clear them and see if the light goes out.

That's a portion of the check engine light and I would suspect that a previous dealer tried to hide the fact that it was on and covered it by some means in order to sell the car. You can confirm/deny this idea when you start the car: if the check engine light does not appear fully in that location when it goes through the pre-start cycle I would be concerned.

You are right. It is in the location of the check engine light. When I turn on the ignition that area is devoid of the normal icon and only displays this sliver of light. As I mentioned previously, I have several warnings displayed on the RH display currently, so this CEL probably relates to one of those. But it's odd that a part of the icon would disappear like that.
I have an OBD reader on order, so I should have more info soon, once I can check codes.

It absolutely did not just disappear and therefore definitely not odd. It was consciously covered up by a previous owner/dealer. I would go back to where/who you bought it from as this type of tampering is against the law.

There is a good chance that I'm an idiot (and I haven't gone to the car to check it out), but I vaguely remember seeing a warning light around there once when my bonnet (hood) wasn't properly latched...
