Should my hand brake be adjusted?

I remember reading in here where someone said that if the hand brake is engaged and the vehicle is given gas, the car should not move. So I tried it on my 05 DB9 and sure enough, the car can move. The brake is definitely engaging to a degree, but the car can move, nonetheless.

My question is if this is correct and should I not expect the car to move at all if the hand brake is fully engaged and given gas? The workshop manual says to simply adjust the release lock nut in order to adjust the brake calipers, but doesn't tell me what to consider as acceptable adjustment. I just want to make sure I have the right expectations before I begin the work.

I've usually gone by the 6-click method on the lever. Meaning adjust both sides evenly and keep lifting your handle until it stops at the 6th click and releases.

That'll work just fine for me. By the end of that setting though, should the car fail to move with the handbrake applied, even under throttle?

If not acceptable, tighten up some more but do not allow less that 4 clicks of the lever.

Yes, the engine will overpower the ability of the handbrake to hold the car. It is simply designed as a parking brake and should only be powerful enough to hold the car in neutral, on a reasonable slope.
