Jumping in with both feet

Hi All,

I think I may have introduced myself in the Porch Forum by mistake so I have repeated it here.

Just introducing myself to the forum. I have just purchased a used 2008 Aston Martin Vantage 4.3 V8 Roadster with manual gear change. I should have found this forum before doing so, but never mind. The car has done 26,000 miles and appears to be in very good condition with full Aston service history. No signs of wear in the usual places for a car of this mileage. It has a couple of stone chip marks but that is to be expected. So I will be looking for advise on where I might get problems or things to look out for. The car will be only used in the summer and will not do much more than 2 to 3,000miles a year at best.

So look forward to hearing from anybody with good or bad stories about this model.

Tony

Welcome to the club! I'd say it's a good idea to check how how old the tires are. It hasn't been driven too much in the last 12 years, so the tires may have plenty of tread but be past their best. I'm a few months ahead of you with my 2007, and I've only spent ~$5K on it so far in minor wear and tear stuff

Hi SLVRon

I will check the tyres as you suggest. Good to hear you are not having any serious issue with your car.

Thank you Tony

Your steering wheel appears misaligned so you may already be aware of PistonHeads and Bamford Rose, excellent UK resources for Aston advice. If storing over winter be sure to read up on battery tending etc.
And check out RedPants.lol for informative videos and advice, very helpful even if you do not DIY. Having a roadster (beautiful color btw) take a look at his video on the convertible roof module, and info on this forum, as to the many gremlins that this can unleash. Also aston1936.com where DB9 info often applies to Vantage as well.
Congrats on taking the plunge!

Hedged,

i must insist the steering wheel Is on the right side. Astons are born that way and then some weird bloke comes along and puts some on the wrong side 😀
Thanks for the heads up on the other forums, i will take a look. Having just sold my Jaguar xk 150 i am use to the Issues associated with the high electric draw on the battery, especially when they are not used on a regular basis.
i hope to go and pick the car up on Thursday so will get a few good runs out of it before it goes into hibernation for the winter.

Thank for the tips
