Dimming of Dashboard Lighting
Dimming of Dashboard Lighting
Gents:
Thoroughly loving my 2009 V8 Vantage except for one thing - My dashboard lights automatically dim on days of bright sunlight to the point that I cannot read some of my gauges. Drive into the shade and they return to full bright. I thought the sensor up by the windshield in the middle of the dash was the trip mechanism so I covered it up completely but no change. Any ideas where the dash light sensor is located?
Thanks for your help.

Strange, it seems this sensor is where you expected it to be: https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/par...olar-load.html
The solar sensor is for the A/C system to aid in auto mode for direct sun thru the windscreen. Actual light sensor is integrated into the center console panel.
If you take a look with a bright light you will find it in the right side of the radio area on the panel.

i attribute excessive glare to my inability to see the gauges in the sunlight. LEDs in general are, IME, miserably dim in direct sunlight. car, motorcycle or cell phone... they're all bad.
....and aren't they supposed to adjust automatically? brighter in bright light and darker in dim light? and the "starting point" being adjusted using a small dial to the left of the steering wheel?

Have not discovered a fix yet. Thought that by turning on the park lights it might lock it in, but discovered I was wrong just today.
I can shine a light on the radio face whenever it dims and it goes back to bright immediately. Haven't heard from anyone who's got a fix.
