Are you referring to the mobil 1 12qt bag? I have done a couple and I don't think it's a true 12qt. More like 11.25 to 11.5qt from my both experiences even squeezing out as much as the residues. Also use a measuring cup when filling but checking against dipstick is best.

I might as well buy a couple more 1-qt bottles then... Thanks for the hint!

My kind of guy. Do it yourself and save at least a grand. AM just drives people to DYI because of their service prices. If AM charged say a 100 bucks they would get the business all day long but at $1600 they can go to hell.

Exactly right! Even for $600, I'd do it at the dealer... but $1,600 is

Friends don't let friends use Mobil Water. I use branded parts when I do maintenance, even little things like oil changes, so my total is over $100. But a dealer will never touch my car unless something really bad happens

Haven't you heard, the latest (again) reformulation of US Mobil1 0w40 FS now has regained BMW LL01 !! along with Porsche A40, ACEA A3/B4AND is now API SP!

Gotta check the back label though, I still see the older SN rated formulations on some shelves (WalMart)

The Ford Racing CM-6731-FL820 filter is on sale at Walmart for... $3.97!!

Nice Price! However that doesn't look like the Ford Racing filter , but the Motocraft FL-820S.

I bought a couple since it's the best price in a very long time!

Differences between the OEM (left and top) / Ford Racing (center x2) / Ford (right and bottom) oil filters.

Thank you for the pic's, saved me the trouble of buying them.
Big difference in those oil filters.
The AM filter definitely has more CU opening then the other two, the AM has 8 elongated larger holes then the Ford racing filter with 8 round holes, hence more oil flow with the AM. The 3rd filter i wouldn't even consider on my V12.
Would be interesting to see the interior construction of the AM versus the Ford racing filter.

Why not just buy the AM filter?

There's much better filter out there than AM, and if you're out of warranty there's no reason not to get something that works better at a lower price.

The 3 filters above shouldn't be judged by the number of holes in them, they are flow limited by the filtering media and not the holes!

The Motorcraft FL-820 is OE on cars that have a much more critical oiling requirement than the NA V12 in my car... The supercharged 5.4L V8 it's in is on the ragged edge.

The Ford Racing filter has one of the highest combined flow rate and filtration efficiency @20micron (99% !) on the market, and has some features the AM filters doesn't have at a better price point.

Even other filters like the Wix 51372XP surpass the OE filter specs and you can grab those for $5-$7

Do you have similar specs for the AM filter? I’d be concerned if they didn’t have the same or similar relief valve and back pressure specs.
