Emira - Nice Job Lotus!
Emira - Nice Job Lotus!
I think Lotus did a great job on this car (Aston take note). The exterior design really flows and the interior is minimal but very nicely done. Definitely a 718 threat and maybe steal some sales from F-type and vantage. I might consider this but need to see in person and drive it. Looks like Lotus softened it from the Evora so more daily or touring focused.
Base ~$85K
2 engines, v6 Toyota or 4 banger from Merc AMG
6 speed option
optional track pack, base is touring
delivery start spring 2022
I would post on Lotus board but only see ~1 post per year..

it is good looking. a little swoopy and OTT for someone my age, but... welcome departure from their traditional styling quirkiness. no question i'd go for the reliable toyota v6 w/manual.

I think this is amazing! I am def hoping AM is paying attention. Too bad about the Toyota/Merc engines. Another brand RUINED

I wonder how well the I4 MB AMG engine will sound? If Aston's tweak to their V8 is any indication; there's hope it may sound good in the Lotus. Both know what their doing to make something better.
I am waiting for the local dealer to get everything in place and collect my order/deposit. Sounds like fall 2022 would be a delivery window on the I4.
Nice...I'm thinking about 2 options, green/tan for a traditional British look or the blue/gray (looks like 911 voodoo in video)...I like the v6 for reliability and better exhaust sound. I don't like the black roof convert look as it takes away from the window arch which is an important design feature. One thing they missed was a glass roof option to bring more light into a small cabin (ala 911).
The offered green looks too dark for me. If they had the shade green like on Jim Clark Lotus 49 livery would look neat. Add the yellow lipstick and stripe...
The Toyota engine is not bad thing. I owned an Evora for a few years and engine sounds wicked, sips oil, never breaks, and has plenty of power. The reliable engine was sheer genius to put into the car. How many exotic cars have a 200K mile without rebuild engine?

The Emira in manual is a real tribute to the manual transmission in both form and function. Shift action & position, along with the clutch made the Evora GT a joy to drive. Emira continues the evolution of what makes a manual car fun.
Absolutely love it. Manual and all.
I never was a huge fan of Lotus due to the Toyota motor.
Spending large amount of money for a Asian butter & bread motor was nothing I was looking for but the Emira package ticks too many boxes.
What I learned so far, the Merc motor will be Automatic only so I need to get comfortable with a Camry.
I want to see it in flesh but I'm strongly considering a deposit on one.
I'm a hardcore manual guy and that Lotus created this makes me very happy!

A couple other things...
1) 4way seats standard, 12way optional
2) launch is v6 only but I4 will be later maybe Q4 2022?
3) 6spd manual/auto on v6. i4 uses 8spd DCT only
4) optional 10 speaker hi-fi audio
5) optional sport cup tire
6) full option list is not known but maybe by sept/oct ordering open? how about a titanium exhaust option from Evora on the v6 (hoping as it sounds incredible)?
As we all know these small companies can't go it alone on engine development and need a big brother. The cost are $100's millions with today's technology expectations/requirements...it's not 1960 anymore...Maybe all the Brits (Aston, Bentley, Lotus, Mclaren, Jag) should merge to keep it in the family and share engine/software tech but each brand keeps its design traditions...but I digress

A nice evolution of the Lotus design. The Evora was a good turning point for them in aesthetics, and this is a nice step forward for them in looking modern. The AMG 4-cylinder with DCT will be a heck of a screamer.
