tail lamp replacement adjustments
I had the dreaded condensation and swapped over to clear lamps from red on my 2007 4.3. Is there a trick to getting them adjusted correctly without over tightening the adjusters/fasteners? It seems like they are either loose or too tight and, being persnickety, the alignment is just that much off when they're tightened to more than hand tight. Suggestions? Thanks for any you have!
Hey, I just had the same issue earlier this year.
I made a video of removing and reinstalling the taillights.
I screwed the adjuster screws all of the way in, then placed the taillight into position. Once I was happy with the location, I backed out the adjuster screws until it was flush with the car lines. Helps the have two people, one for holding it and the other to just back out the screws.
Here is the video to show what I did.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks Andrew,
I think I got it pretty close to right. It may be a function of 'hand built' but I'm not sure its entirely possible to get them perfect, I'm just hoping they don't have the same problem again in the foreseeable future.

Best of luck. Two things I kept in the back of my mind was that I made sure to reseal the lights again as a precaution and I made sure not to over tighten the adjusters. That will cause the seal to separate from the housing.
I did reseal the lights with silicone sealant, its not pretty but it does appear to be effective. I may re-adjust them to loosen the torque on the adjuster but tighten the nut holding it all together after a few days to see there is any way to be certain they aren't too tight.
