Hello all, I recently purchased a 2019 Vantage and noticed the battery was dying pretty fast. I took it to the dealer and after they checked it out they confirmed it was a bad battery and said it would cost $800 to replace it. I am not sure how Aston martins factory warranty works but aren't batteries usually covered under the factory warranty?

I also told the dealership about a weird noise it was making while driving on the highway. While driving the car to figure out the noise, they got a nail in one of the rear tires. They offered to replace it for free but said I would have to pay for the other side. I thought about making a big deal out of it but I figured I am getting 2 new tires for the price of one. Would you guys accept that?

 

The battery and labor should be covered....3 year bumper to bumper, unlimited mileage warranty from date of original sale.
As far as the nail...that's a tough one...one would hope they would replace both tires out of 'goodwill'

Talked to the dealer again, and I guess if there isn't a drain on the battery or an electrical component that is defective, it is not covered. TIL.

Look at lemon laws in your state

 

Joke, right? Lemon law over a battery? But I agree with others the battery should be included, notionally. You should read your maintenance contract carefully As for the tire, I'd ask them to replace the one they offered, and shave it to match the existing tire on the other side.

 

I was referring to comment over battery drain...A guy on a BMW forum I frequent had a "bad" battery diagnosed and it turned out to be a component that kept the car from fully going to sleep... it was a rather expensive fix and hassle

 

+1 on the tire shave. Also, If you replace the battery and it goes flat/fails again, you can demand they cover the expense then when they repair the root issue.

 

I'd ask the dealer to mount the 2nd tire for free, but you purchase from them at Tire Rack or better pricing.

I would raise concern that a battery replacement is not required. They need to do a little better on a root cause.

 

Thanks for the responses everyone. Unfortunately the dealership is saying Aston Martin themselves will not cover the battery. The battery is close to 3 years old now so I am guessing it could just be getting older. I know 3 years is not a lot, but maybe its the supercar tax.

 

Do you keep the car on a CTEK when not in use? 3 years is not old unless the car sat for a wicked long time.

 

For people who don't know, Tire Rack will also shave the tire. Just measure the tread depth and call them up. It's $35.

 

Neat. Had no idea, but then you have two tires with different date codes.

My friend had PS4's with all different date codes on his Ferrari and car drove like crap once they wore some. Had to replace all four tires. I drove the car and can attest to less than ideal handling. Once they were replaced with all the same it was much better.

 

If difference more than year or 20% of tread life I will swap other tire on axle.

 

Vehicle battery is not in the not covered wear items in the owners book. Remote batteries is for the period of 1 year. No where does it say vehicle battery is a wear or maintenance item.
