Reputable Shop in Toronto or GTA for Engine Work

Hi all,

Recently acquired a 2011 V8V, and I was told by the previous owner that his shop replaced the timing chain but was unable to line it up correctly. One or more teeth must be off because the car has a slight misfire and P0016 + P0018 codes. Apparently that shop was unable to do it correctly since they did not have access to the correct tools.

Can anyone recommend a reputable shop in Toronto or the GTA that can get the job done with the correct timing tools?

Thank you

Ouch is right!

I have had a very good relationship with Birkshire Motors in Thornhill thru several Jags, and I know that they are quite familiar with Astons. Sam, the Owner, is an old hill climber from 'way back, and they are very 'invested' in British cars. Give them a call.

I use Grand Touring downtown when it’s things like that and I rather just pay to get it done right or NV Euro Auto Works when it’s random things any mechanic should be able to handle.

congrats on the ride!

If the jag / LR tool is really equivalent, they are available on amazon for a pretty reasonable price.
Matt
I noticed that, it does seem to have most of the required parts. Missing the flywheel locking tool and the cam-crank centring tool. Also not sure if I should chance it without the proper tools or Aston-specific knowledge.

Thank you! I was thinking the same in regards to Grand Touring, just hoping the repair bill doesn’t enter 5 digits since I know there’s quite a bit of labour involved in getting access to the timing chain..

I always used Grand Touring for my various Aston's. Over the years I've contacted many independent shops in Toronto, sadly none seem to inspire confidence when speaking to them or their knowledge of the car.

While Grand Touring is going to be pricey, they know what they are doing - Serge is the Service Manager and knows his Aston's inside out! Good luck.

Ok, looks like I know where I need to take it. Thank you for that info, I’ll try to contact him!
