Rubber pedals to aluminium pedals - DB7 Vantage
Can the rubber pedals be changed for aluminium pedals and is it a straight pedal pad swap or the fuller pedal?
If it’s fairly straightforward, where do you source metal pedal pads - can’t find them on my internet searches so far?

Yes, it is an easy swap. They probably can only be found on eBay or at parts suppliers like AstonMartinBits. They came as a packaged kit from Aston (probably made in China). You are right, however, they are hard to find.
Thanks, an advert for aluminium pedal pads says:
“FOR DB7 VANTAGE - PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE THESE WILL FIT AS THE EARLY MODELS HAD RUBBER PADS FITTED, AND THERE MAY NOT BE HOLES ON THE PEDAL TO FIT”
Is there a way of checking by model year, mine was registered in June 2002 and has rubber pads currently?
Thanks

I bought an AM kit years ago for my 2001. You will have to drill holes into the metal brake pedal plate after you remove the rubber pad so as to secure the new metal pedal. I can’t remember how many holes, but the kit will supply you with everything you need including the allen head screws. I think you will have to do the same on the gas pedal. This is all from memory and that was many moons ago. It’s a small space to work and I used a punch to get the drill bit started. Also, tape the medal pedal in place before you use the punch.
Thanks… sound like hassle to be drilling holes in metal pedals that will sit underneath…
AstonMartin bits says they can only supply an aluminium accelerator pedal pad and not the brake pedal or footrest…

Have the car now and it's great... As mentioned, it has rubber pedal pads (that's as it came from the factory)… before leaving the selling garage (an AM Heritage garage) they’d responded to my earlier enquiry and had sourced a full set of brand new (quite hard to come by) genuine aluminium pedal and foot rest pads direct from Aston Martin… couldn’t resist… the best bit though is that they thought the existing metal on the pedals would need to be drilled to accommodate the new aluminium pedal pads... They don't on mine! The existing metal pedals already have holes that are perfectly aligned to the manufactured holes on the new aluminium pedal pads

Fitted the foot rest and brake pedal pads today. Not as easy as thought despite the holes being pre-drilled into the original pedal pads base. A cramped space to work in. 2 out of 3 done though so not too bad…
No idea how to remove the existing plastic/ rubber accelerator pad and then refit the new aluminium pad.

Thanks for the reply. The foot rest and brake pedal were rubber pads and pulled off easily. The accelerator pad feel more like a hard plastic… and does feel as though it will pull off…
All done now.
Foot rest pad and brake pedal pad - the original black metal foot rest and also the brake pedal were both covered by AM rubber pads. On removing the rubber pads (both just pulled off) I found that both original black pedal pads had pre-drilled holes in them. The new AM aluminium pedals also had pre-drilled holes perfectly aligned and easily screwed/ bolted on - note of caution though, the tool required is a hex/ Allen key and not a torx key (the fitment is so small at 2.5mm / 3mm depending on your eyesight it’s easy to mistake the torx for the hex. I did at first!
Accelerator pedal - the original pedal pad is made of a hard black plastic and clips on to a hook shaped piece of metal at the end of the accelerator arm. The plastic pedal unclips very easily but you can’t then screw/ fit the aluminium accelerator pad on to the accelerator arm because there’s nothing there to screw/ bolt it on to. You have to unclip the original plastic pedal and then align the aluminium AM pedal over the top of the plastic pad before pilot drilling 3 holes into the plastic pedal. You then screw/ bolt the aluminium pedal pad on to the plastic pedal. You then clip the plastic part of the accelerator pad (complete with covering aluminium pedal pad) back on to the hook on the accelerator arm and job done 👍
