Magnetic trickle charger

. . . Who knew?! Maybe you all know this, but I stumbled on a YouTube video talking about a magnetic attachment for a CTEK cigarette lighter trickle charger, super-cool. I then found the item on eBay, it was pretty pricey, but I fell for the gimmick The item arrived (early) as promised, but to my chagrin, while the item works perfectly, the spacing between the magnetic attachment and the top of my license plate frame is so close . . . I cannot install the charger without unscrewing my license plate frame; kinda defeats the purpose a of a quick connect/disconnect. I may mess with it a bit more, but that I would warn others of this issue. I will report back if I came up with a clever workaround. KH

I've been wanting to do this as well. New Ferrari and Aston already have this built in. I left it for my local AM dealer to get the parts and at the time couldn't find them online.
I know a lot of owners would sure like this instead closing the trunk with a cable.

Yes, not new. Bentley has had the magnetic port built in the rear bumper from the factory for a number of years now. Can't recall the first year.

Remove the plate frame and you will have the base bracket that has multiple positions that mount it. Drop it down one position and your clearance should work out.

THANK YOU, it didn't even occur to me that there would be additional installation options on the mounting plate. You can see that it was installed in the middle position (remaining screw), the lower position gives enough space to attach and reattach the magnetic connector. Really appreciate the advice JW, Merry Christmas! KH

As you can see from my previous post, I was able to make this work! I thought I would also report that the vendor that I purchased the connector from, allowed me to return the connector for a full refund. Obviously, now that I was able to adjust the license plate frame, I'm keeping it and quite happy with the result and the customer service of eBay seller: juicemyride

LMK if you have any issues finding the part, KH

@khiroshima Can you post the ebay ad you bought from?

I'll forward to the dealership and hopefully get this installed on my spring service visit!

If there are any MA owners who'd want this done, we could convince the dealership to do a group buy.

Here's what I bought and the vendor I bought it from, as mentioned, the quality of the connector is good and they offered a full refund when I thought that I would be unable to use it. Happy on all accounts and I have no affiliation with them . . . I do think it should be cheaper for what it is, but that's a different issue! HA, KH
