Emission System Service Required (O2 Sensors)
Emission System Service Required (O2 Sensors)
I have a 2016 AM V8V that I have owned for three years. In all that time, the MIL has never come on due to a faulty O2 sensor. However, I have it listed for sale and low and behold, in the last two weeks, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) has come on three times. In all cases it is showing codes P0130 AND P0150. From what I can tell, this is indicating that the pre-cat sensors on both sides may be bad. But that seems very suspicious to me. Other than bad sensors, what could cause the ECM to through both of those codes at the same time? Resetting them works for a few days, but the the MIL comes back on again. This last time, when someone was test driving it and I was in the passenger seat. I have it at the AM dealer in Dallas now, but it will be several days before they can get to it. I'm a little concerned that this could be a rather expensive fix. Anybody have any thoughts on a cause? Thanks in advance.

i don't know what could cause both of the upstream O2 sensors to indicate a malfunction at the same time other than a common source like air, fuel or electrical. cost will eventually be determined by the source of the failure. could just as easily be inexpensive as not.
Well, AM of Dallas doesn't seem to know why both sensors failed, but that is exactly what happened. So $2K later, the Vantage is back to being fully operational again. Now I have to part with it to make way for retirement......
