After Market Warranty Question

Good morning everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking at purchasing a 2006 Vantage and have been trying to get quotes for after market warranties with no luck. I usually purchase new cars with warranties, this will be my first Aston Martin and I'm not sure what the cost will be.

The car has 52,000 miles and is in exceptional condition. I've test driven the car, gone over every inch of it and am confident it's been extremely well taken care of (exotic dealer car selling the car on consignment). The car has a new V12 clutch, lightweight flywheel, new brakes and brake pads, and other mods that apparently take care of known issues with the Vantage. I just want the piece of mind that comes with a warranty.

If anyone has information on about what a warranty would cost, both full coverage as well as just engine please chime in. It would be much appreciated.

You're on your own with a car like that. I'd rather have the warranty money in my bank account and take my chances. They're reliable cars and it sounds like a good example. Well driven shows it's not a lemon, IMO.

I'm surprised as there is many warranty companies that would gladly take your money. Perhaps they are too busy calling people who have run out of warranty? Dealer selling/ Consigning doesn't have a line on something? Looking online I see dozens for free quotes.

The dealer does not have a line on warranties. I'm not sure why. I've been online with multiple companies this weekend asking for quotes, filling out the information, but nobody is responding. I'm just assuming they are closed for the weekend. When I call I get an answering service who will only take a message. There is a bit of a time table on getting this car as the current owner agreed to drop the price this weekend. I'll keep trying......

Unfortunately your not going to get anything on the weekend. Where is the car? Are you local and have you researched local repair shops or a AM dealer?

Yeah......I am nervous someone is going to buy this out from under me. My heart is telling me to just go get the car tomorrow, that's how much I'm in love with it.......but my head is telling me since it's a 2006 to do the right thing and get a PPI.

My experience is that no warranty company will touch an Aston; repair costs are far too expensive and the number of cars too small to allow for premiums that make any sense. Unless it is a Timeless warranty through Aston itself, you won’t find anyone to give you a warranty.

Definitely get a PPI. No matter how good it is, it’s still a 16 year old car. If this one slips away, there will absolutely be another one!

I saw the sales ad online. Don't fall for a seller doing the hard sale buy it now price drop or someone else is coming to view it. If it's ment to be go thru with a planned checklist. Car has a lot of mods that most may or may not like. Car sales have slowed down in the last month. Don't panic....

Honestly, whatever aftermarket warranty you get from a 3rd party company will set you back several thousand dollars. As was stated earlier the only warranty worth getting might be the AM timeless warranty but it's rather pricey. I was in the same position as you a few months ago (picked up an 2007 V8V) and opted to just save my money and not look into a warranty. The PPI should tell you if you have any concerning items coming up over the horizon that will need to be addressed. The biggest item is the clutch, but at 52k miles perhaps it's already been done? If not, then make sure you have at least $6k set aside (unless you are good at wrenching yourself and can do it for half that). The other big repair is the timing chain gasket, although many cars had this repair made early on and under warranty. Make sure the car you are looking at has had it done, otherwise that's another $4k to $5k repair that will definitely need to be done at some point. Other than those two biggies, most of the repairs on on these cars can be done for under $1500 and even less if you are handy. I would also strongly recommend finding an indy mechanic who can work on Astons in your area. The dealerships will rob you blind with labor costs.
I am basically providing my own "warranty" on my car. Setting aside about $3k a year for maintenance costs. Some years will obviously be less and I'll just roll the excess over into the pot for bigger repairs down the road.

The dealer has been very chill. Not high pressure at all. The current owner (it's on consignment) has answered all questions. He did agree to my offer, but definitely no "buy it now or else" BS.

PPI came back great, no issues. When I test drove it everything felt great, around town and on the highway. Engine idles and runs perfectly. It really is in fantastic shape. There are small nitpicky things cosmetic that I will fix, but only because I'm obsessive compulsive.

Here is the list of things that have been done to the car:

Maintenance:
- Clutch/Flywheel (known weakpoint on
factory stock cars) ~ 5k miles ago
- Front wheel bearings refreshed with OEM
units
- LiquiMoly 10W60 motor oil and OEM oil
filter changed twice already within last 8k
miles
- New Brembo OEM slotted brake rotors
front & rear (7k miles ago)

new GruppeM CF intake kit)
