2015 DB9 Battery Replacement
2015 DB9 Battery Replacement
Followed some guidance from the aston1936 website which was quite helpful. His example in the videos is an older year than 2015 and the battery area design looks a bit different overall.
Despite buying a CPO car in Feb 2021, the battery was original. I purchased an AGM H8 battery from Autozone, which was allegedly the right fit. Measured the OEM battery and all seemed proper on the dimensions.
However, once the battery was installed and when attempting to replace the battery metal cover, I noticed the threads on the cover which should align to the bolts to hold the front of the cover protrude into the battery preventing a proper fit. In fact, they cannot line up due to the design of the battery section.
I attempted to adjust the fit of the battery but the cavity is tight and the sliding bracket on the back doesn't give much latitude. I needed the battery slide back another 1/4 inch or so, evidently the style of the front of the new battery has a taller section just on the front. This was not something I anticipated when I was measuring the dimensions as I didn't think to check this as a conflict, was more concerned with the actual dimensions of length and width. Height was measured and fine but obviously without this cover going back on with bolts pointing through.
At this point, I may be stuck just getting an OEM battery from the local dealer.
Has anyone had success on this model year DB9 with an aftermarket battery, and if so, which one? Now that I have this all apart, I just want a battery that fits and don't mind the dealer one provided it is not 2x the cost of the aftermarket versions. If you bought an OEM, what was your cost so I can compare to my local dealer?

This 93/T8 was fit for mine. The posts being recessed made the difference in total height ( 6 7/8 inches ) and clearance for the top cover. The H8 stands at 7 1/2" height and just doesn't fit my car.

That's shocking (see what I did there?) as they want more than that for paper air filters.
Regardless, back up and running at last and glad I did my own work to ensure all was carefully put back together.
