Putting bigger brakes on gen 1 DB9

Hi all, I'm trying to put a set of the bigger brakes from the Rapide on the DB9, however the R's 6 pot front callipers mounting boltholes are too wide to fit to the original hub boltholes. The 6 pots have a bolt distance of 230mm, whilst the hub/knuckle mounting is - I think - 180mm, so is an adapter bracket, like the one for the V12 Vantage, needed to enable the bigger calliper to fit the original mounts?

Thanks all, Ray.

Interessting - thinking about the same thing for my 07 V8V...
There are 2 different 6 piston calipers
for carbon disks (with the casted bridge over the top of the caliper)
this one has 230mm bolt distance.

for steel disks (with bolt on top of caliper = pads can be exchanged with caliper in place).

I BELIEFE (not sure) these calipers have a different bolt pattern.

Stock 4 piston caliper has, as you said ~180 mm bolt distance.
I have seen pics where the carbon brake calipers were mounted with an adapter like this:

An adapter like that would aprox match the 180-230mm bolt pattern distance.

The steel disk calipers seem to have a different bolt pattern MAYBE 200ish mm, and they require (for the V8V) the hubs of the V8VS to be mounted properly.
They match with the V8VS 280x34mm brake disks. Rapide disks are larger AFAIK, and may thus not fit under 19" wheels.
I don't know if the 2 types of 6 piston calipers have the same piston size, however I know thet the V8VS has a different brake master zylinder.
So going from 4 to 6 piston may require that as well.
Both calipers SEEM to have the same pad size (needs checking), maybe different pad height for the lager disks?

Thats about my current understanding of things...

That's great info thanks. I have some 20" wheels which will also be fitted to accommodate bigger brakes. I have the callipers with the bridge, but they are the same part number for the Rapide, gen2 DB9, Virage, gen2 Vanq and DBS - and the Rapide didn't have CCM brakes, so believe these bridged calipers will also work with the Rapide 400mm steel brakes? The 2nd calliper pic you posted looks like the V8V S one.

I upgraded my 2006 DB9 brakes to the Carbon 6 pot fronts with 410mm 2 part discs and 380mm 2 part discs on the rear.

Braking is hugely improved, never hneveull.confidence in the original DB9 brakes.
