If the battery is one of those really heavy lead acid things then $1200 is outrageous.
I'm looking at an AntiGravity battery for my V12 Vantage. Does anyone know if it is the same battery? If so, which one did you go with?

I went for a Antigravity H7-40-RS, it has 1500 Cranking Amps, LiFePO4 batteries deliver massively more cranking amps that lead acid, and I think that is the crucial number. This model only has 40Ah capacity, so if you like to leave your lights on overnight there isn't much spare, but with AntiGravity batteries, if you do leave your lights on accidentally, the battery will isolate itself so that it will retain enough power to start the car. When you get back to the car, even if its a week or two later, you just press the batteries remote, or open the car with your emergency key and press the button on top of the battery, and it will re-engage so you can start the car and drive away. Its a reassuring feature.

I went for this particular battery because it has huge starting power, enough power in reserve, and it fits perfectly into the Vantage battery compartment. Its the same height and width as the OEM battery, but shorter, so that gave me somewhere to store a large can of Holts Tyreweld emergency puncture repair gloop. And it saved 17.2Kg, am very happy with the battery.

You should go with the H8/group 49 what AM factory fit size wise. If you shop around it can be had for less than $1k.

The battery they quoted me at was a standard AGM battery.

While on the topic, could somebody tell me where the battery is located for future reference. Car is still at my other shop so I can’t see for myself and looking online hasn’t helped. TIA

I would look someone where else to work on your car. The labor and part rates are beyond excessive IMO. The services mentioned do not require AM dealership to do it all. If the battery swap needs an AM computer to reset something; bring it to them just for that.

The dealership should expect the car for free if they are charging that kind of money and expect you to do warranty service with them.

Behind the passengers seat, carpeted panel pulls out easily from the inner edge.

I'm currently paying $185/hr labor at Autosport Designs in Huntington NY, a very well respected AM specialist that deals in all kinds of exotics from around the Gold Coast of Long Island. It's an impressive place (www.autosportdesigns.com). They've treated me very fairly thus far in taking care of the Vantage I purchased last year. I've had a pretty decent amount of work done to bring everything up to spec, and it's all come out to about $9000 thus far, including a full paint correction and wheel refinishing. I cannot imagine justifying a $300/hr labor rate for this car.

I had the service completed last week for under $3,000. Oil change, spark plugs, battery and brake flush. Labor per hour was around 160 I believe. Quite pleased with the shop and will take it back for future maintenance.

To get LiFePO4 batteries to fit in a standard size case, they just put the small Lithium battery in a large box. I went for one that fitted straight into the space for the existing battery, but was shorter than standard so I had some spare concealed space.

I don't see any advantage in going for a bigger box, its just a little harder to fit and gives nothing in return?

I opted to just have them do the inspection/emissions and call it a day. Oh...and it turns out $3800 wasn't even including rotors...just replacement of 4 brake pads

For reference, it's a 2020 with 31k miles.

Location=Northern VA

I'll add a question while i'm here. AM I correct to assume that I can buy engine air filters for the AMG engine that fits the corresponding AMG models that the vantage engine shares in common? It seems easier to find parts when looking up that benz motor vs vantage specific parts.
Hi
Can you please give me the part number of the brake pads for the vantage 2020 , i need to replace mines and i dont find it online
Thank you

I've had my 2013 V8V for 7 years. It has been to the dealer only to have a cracked windshield replaced. I've done everything else myself. That included a battery, and some exhaust parts, but other than that that just fluids and brakes. Done in my garage. It's all in been under $4k including the $1k deductible for the windshield. I'll be replacing the original tires this next month.

There is no way I paid that much for my battery which is spec for the car. I don't remember what I paid, but if it was over $200 it would stick out in my mind as being over priced.

I've replace my battery twice in the Rapide and don't think I paid over $500 for the battery. One time the install cost more; there were more updates or computer stuff that had to be done. The most recent time it was a simple swap. I usually have the clock reset when they are working on the car, so that is an additional $100ish.
