$14,000 service bill

Hey guys, took my '20 vantage to the dealerership expecting routine maintenance and also for a CPO extended warranty inspection.

14k in parts and labor to get it "acceptable" to purchase the warranty.

$1200 battery replacement
$3700 brake pads/2 rotors
2nd year service - $3400

These two stand out as rather high based on other luxury vehicles i've owned...but to be fair none were on par with Aston in terms of price of the vehicle. Are these generally normal costs from what you've seen?

Wow! Not sure where your located - But hearing crazy bills like that leads to the huge deprecation factor that is attached to the AM brand. $14,000 is a pretty good % of your cars market value today!

i recently installed front rotors and pad on my porsche for under 100 dollars. and a few years back i installed, on my vantage, a new battery, brake pads all around and gas struts on doors, hood and hatch for $400.

but it should come as no surprise that there's a mighty premium to pay for the luxury of simply driving the car to a dealership without performing their due diligence WRT costs beforehand.

$300 for labor is what I would expect for top-notch service, however I generally wouldn't describe dealer service that way. Techs are paid a flat book rate based on the job and the allotted time is often not long enough to do the job correctly and responsibly. Long story short, corners usually get cut. That's not a blanket statement, but I certainly wouldn't take a car to the dealer assuming they will do a perfect job.

You're also likely to get deferent techs working on your car. In my experience, you, your car and your wallet will be be much happier with the same set of hands working on your car every time.

Obviously this advice is not so useful in a warranty situation, but just some things to consider.

And $1,200 for for a battery? Did that include a happy ending? Ludicrous price.

Find another dealer, how many miles? Should not need brake rotors, pads maybe. Ask for measurements. Please share what region/state to avoid if you don't name the dealer itself.

Was a tube of Vaseline provided to make taking the shaft less painful. Those prices are ABSURD.

I thought $299 is a steal for AM!

Audi and Porsche are at $310/hr here in LA.

Update for you guys....the car didn't need any of the work they listed to pass state inspection/emissions. This was all a recommendation.... I also found an independent Euro specialty shop that offered to do all of the same maintenance for 1/2 of what the dealer wanted. I opted to just have them do the inspection/emissions and call it a day. Oh...and it turns out $3800 wasn't even including rotors...just replacement of 4 brake pads

For reference, it's a 2020 with 31k miles.

Location=Northern VA

I'll add a question while i'm here. AM I correct to assume that I can buy engine air filters for the AMG engine that fits the corresponding AMG models that the vantage engine shares in common? It seems easier to find parts when looking up that benz motor vs vantage specific parts.

Hey, someone has to pay for the new facility in Sterling! I bought a maxjack for my garage (2 post lift) and it paid for itself in the first repair job.

If the battery is a LiFePO4 then $1200 doesn't sound excessive at all. I bought an AntiGravity battery for my 2010 Vantage and that was over £900, which is over £1000 USD, add a bit of labour and you're there.

If the battery is one of those really heavy lead acid things then $1200 is outrageous.
