(V8 Vantage) Loose battery ground point

Hi all, first post here

I recently turned the key on my 07 V8 Vantage and had all power completely shut off. Looking behind the seat at battery connections, I found that the connection between the ground cable and the rear firewall (see photo) is completely loose (which I guess is a relief).

I tried tightening the nut from the front but it seems like the inner nut/bolt (not sure what it's called) that bolts to the firewall is loose and I need access to behind the panel to tighten it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get access? Do I just remove the leather panel above or go from the trunk?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's a riveted stud, there may be another one close buy that would work. If not it would be best to install a fresh one adjacent to the original point. Have you tried double nuts tighted on the end to see if the original can be torqued?

I had the same problem on my 07. Luckely I had another right nex to it, just a couple of cm so the earth strap reached without a problem.

thanks for the help - there is indeed another one on the right but it is also loose (probably had the ground connected there previously)

I think i will need better access to remove the original nut/try to torque the rivet down - any pointers on how to remove the leather panel above the rivet? is it just a matter of unclipping the 2 side panels and undoing 2 bolts at the bottom? thanks again
edit: never mind, jammed a flat head screwdriver in to stop the rivet from spinning and got the nut off. also found a bunch of other rivet bolts underneath the original two which can be used.

Had the same problem on my 09', the lose cable, not rivet. But I don't really know since it was dealer diagnosed and fixed.
