Cost of seat cover replacement

As typical, the leather bolster on my 2011 Vantage Sahara Tan drivers seat is starting to wear enough for concern. I saw a replacement (factory new) upper seat cover on Aston Martin Bits for about 400 English Pounds, but it was Sandstorm, not Sahara Tan. So, I went to Morries Aston Martin to get a price on the upper cover (not including installation). I was shocked that it was $5,214 for the replacement upper cover. So instead, this spring I'll take it to the Ferrari Dealer where their contractor will replace the leather panel for what will surely be a ton less. I've never had any luck with leather repair on the seat bolsters. They look great as long as nobody sits in the seat.

If you are an AMOC member, there are several outfits in the UK that do retrimming, etc... that advertise in the monthly and quarterly AMOC magazines. I'd call a few of those.

SFCARGUY is infamous around these parts
I repainted my DB7 seats with leather dye and they came out like new. I bought an airbrush system and it was easier then I thought. Takes a bit of time but the results are worth it. The most time spent is preparing the seat for paint. I'm sure there are companies who will do it for you. I used autoleatherdye.com and they matched the color perfectly.

I've never had any luck with refinishing leather - seems like a week later it looks like before it was refinished.

I'd agree with this. I've had this done and it doesn't hold up. Feels terrible too.

If you haven't already I'd reach out to Nicholas Mee/The Aston Store in the UK. They have resources for our interiors/leather and seem willing to send out just the matching leather so you can have a local shop install it. I'll DM you the trim guys email address.

Reviving this old thread. I have a 2009 V8 Vantage with Black and Grey interior leather. I'm trying to evaluate what the cost of retrimming the seats and door cards in Kestrel tan (or similar would cost). Would love whatever information you found was helpful in the past!

Can you find a wrecked Vantage with that color interior and do a clean swap?

Just a thought but YouTube seems to have anything you need to know about leather repair.

I'll DM you the contact info for the person at Nicholas Mee/The Aston Store as well. I never did anything with them, I ended up selling my first Vantage and swapping to a later year car before I did anything about the small interior issues I had. I had been looking for Phantom Grey leather which they didn't have any stock of, but had an alternative that may have worked.

*Actually looks like you're unable to receive DMs? Maybe since you're new? Shoot me a message once this is enabled for you and I'll send you over the contact info. I'm sure you can get in touch through their site though, I doubt they hide the info but also never like putting people's contact info out there without their permission.

Before I sold my car I did have a local leather/interior shop look at my car, with the intention of getting the leather from Nicholas Mee and having the local shop do the work. The local shop just may have been especially cautious (they wouldn't even take the upper dash panels that tend to peel out themselves, would only rewrap them if I took them out myself) but they said they wouldn't even attempt to do anything with the door panels. They said they wouldn't be able to replicate the work and it would end up looking worse. On one hand they did seem to be a nicer tier shop, but on the other hand I've had a really hard time with car related resources in my area so you might live somewhere with better/more experienced resources.

So with that, Brightoncorgi's recommendation of getting replacement parts out of a wrecked car might be the easiest option. I know Astonbits.com has a good stock of stuff like that and you can always email them if you don't see what you need on their site. Sounds like maybe they have some ability to track stuff down?

Thank you PC-V8V and others. I looked at eBay for seats but found there wasn’t much selection or the ones I saw were in poor condition.

Based on your suggestion, I’ll check out Aston Bits and perhaps send them a note with what I’m looking for.

And if I can figure out how to become eligible for DMs, I’ll send you one to thank you and continue to conversation!

Is there a "simple" way to refoam a seat? Do they have to be pulled out the car and stripped?
