V8 Vantage Leak - Near Front Timing Cover
V8 Vantage Leak - Near Front Timing Cover
Has anyone had a leak from that line going into the lower part of the front timing cover? Mine is leaking from that black line going into the bottom part of the front timing cover, next to the oil filter.
I don't have the part number, but the 'fix' is to upgrade to the 4.7 gasket. The good news is that parts are cheap for the fix - the bad news is that it's 20-24 hours of labor to get to it ;( I had the leak in my 2007 Vantage fixed last summer.
I had my 2015 V8 GT fixed under warranty - the gasket was not installed correctly at the factory. If it's a weep (many weep) leave it alone, because the fix means pulling the entire suspension apart and dropping the engine to access the fix. The cure might introduce a ton of new problems. My 2011 weeps - I live with it.
My '11 Vantage use to leak too. I think I was quoted just under 6K to fix at the time. If I drove it regularly it would weep. If it sat over a week or two there would be drops on the floor.

I traded the Vantage in on the Rapide. That was one of the reasons, among a few. If I buy another V8V, I will ask for an impromptu request to see the car on the lift and check to see if it's leaking.
I bought my Vantage from Fairfield Jaguar - I requested a video showing me any leaks or seepages. Either they cleaned up the seepages before the video they sent or avoided the areas. Today I would have used Lemon Squad who were instrumental in helping me find a no issues SLK32 recently. Had I used them I would have either bought a different Vantage or offered $10K less.

Its not the front timing cover gasket, it's the black line going into the front timing cover which is leaking. The line which takes a 90 degree turn which is next to the oil filter. I didn't know if anyone has ever experienced this issue.
I was quoted about $3k to repair and the original owner agreed to knock $2k of the price for that...
Decided to wait to repair to see if it would get worse. Hasn't leaked in 5 years and a slight weeping I wipe up every year during my oil change. Has never dripped anything on the floor
If anyone of you are considering trying the seal repair yourself I think I have the correct seal and gasket set for the 4.3 & 4.7 engine. 95% but not 100% sure but would be happy to mail a set to you N/C for testing and confirmation.
