DB11 market in 2024
Hi all
I'm new to AM, reading and lusting over a DB11.
Have heavily researched the nicely depreciated DB11s here and on PH.
Not to rehash all the V12 vs V8 vs AMR details, how do you feel about the early V12s ?
The later V12 AMRs seem to have not depreciated nearly as much and prices seem somewhat flat on the 2017 launch editions.
For those of you who know AM better than me, would you spend $110-115k on a 2017 V12 with AMR upgrade and timeless warranty, or wiser to look at a newer V8?
I'd love to hold out for an AMR V12, but that will take a couple more years to drop this low in price.
Basically, does a 2017 V12 scare you?

I would suggest driving both the V8 and V12. Personally, I would want the V12. V8 is would be easier to live with, but is not a V12.
Keep in mind, you can add a Timeless warranty to non-AM franchise bought car. If you have a relationship or buy a car from a franchise dealer, I would think you could get the AMR upgrade for very little cost. I like the Launch Edition cars as they are well loaded. B&O is a must have option for me.

I'm looking at a dealer vehicle, one owner, well maintained, free AMR upgrade and 6 year service done.
Wish I could drive this one after the AMR upgrade and then a V8 to compare - obviously will be different beasts.
Seems like the AMR ECU tune gives about 90% of the benefit of an actual AMR, sans the few hardware tweaks.
I also wonder if the climbing price of DB12 will buoy the DB11 market, or tank it since the DB12 interior is a leap forward in design and functionality?
My hunch is DB11 prices will continue to fall especially as owners trade them in on DB12 and new Vantage. If you want a more precise, lighter on its feet drive, the V8 would be better suited. I suffer from cylinder envy, so would go with the V12. Like the extra hood vents too. Think of the V8 more in terms of weight, handling, and balance.
Good point about the new vantage and DB12 - I would think the current vantage prices going to take a bigger hit.
Never a better time than the present though.
AM prices drop like stones in general. A V12 is purist, particularly since the V8s are Mercedes sourced. But I suspect that it won't matter much in the secondary market. I'd always opt for the V12 though.
I hadn't considered the secondary market as less of an enthusiast market, but I see what you mean.
Can anyone comment on the reliability of the AM V12? Seems pretty robust.
I think we are beyond the inflection point of the initial 3 year depreciation curve and that it has flattened out a fair bit now.
Guessing the 2017 and 2018 DB11s are going to drop about 10k /year from here and the more recent ones still in the steep part of the curve.
I had read about 30% off brand new vantages a couple years ago. Was the same true for the DB11?
