Unhappy Still Need CEM Help- Any Non Dealer Tuners?

Gentlemen,

As I had mentioned in a previous post, a power surge from a lightning strike hit the electric circuit my 06 V8 Vantage was hooked up on a maintainer to.

The update I have is the fuel pump module and the CEM were fried.

I purchased and had a new fuel pump module installed but couldn't find a new CEM; I bought a used one from another 06 Vantage but obviously it needs programming.
I'm hearing from everyone I know that tuning an already burnt CEM is impossible and given there are no new ones I don't know what my next steps are.

Can anyone verify the rewriting a used CEM?
Does anyone know any tuners/programmers that might be capable of doing so if thats possible?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thank you in advance

James

I have the programmer for your 06V8V

Hello, James

The 2006 cars can be programmed with the early AMDS, commonly known as the Ford WorldWide Diagnostic System (WDS). I acquired one last year to program my ECU to enable cruise control, as the local AM dealer wouldn't do it, although they offered to sell me a car with cruise control.

Send me your VIN and I'll check to see if the WDS will recognize it. Assuming it does, it takes about 15 minutes to program.

You can try Steel Wings in Ivyland PA - they have an AMDS. They service my DB9 Volante since I got it. You might want to call them and ask for Jon Clerk.

You have two options:
1. The easiest one, however the most expensive if you need new keys (if you have seed programming codes for your existing keys or you are ready to buy and program new keys): install the new CEM and tow your car to someone having AMDS. The programing will require new CCF (car config file) to be downloaded (from an official AM tech) or to be created by a smart programmer. I assume you will not find someone who could create CCF file for your car, so I would recommend rather to tow your car to official dealer having AM tech backup.
2. To clone your CEM to a new one (this option will recover all your previous setup incl keys). I assume two processors in your CEM are not burnt, so it is possible to copy both contents to a new CEM. This requires someone with more sophisticated tool (MC9S12 microchip reader/programmer).

In order to know if option 2 is possible, you can open your burnt CEM and see if the two biggest chips are not affected.

Good luck!

Try a reputable electronics repair shop. Repairing "burnt" electronics is very common. Call these guys Rossmann Group. They have a mail order service and specialize in laptops. There are also dedicated ECU repair shops I found through Ebay when a squirrel ate the EFI harness and shorted the driver board in my 4Runner.
