First time driving my newly acquired V8V, left my stranded.

Thursday evening at around 11 pm my car finally got delivered. It’s a 2007 V8V, 6 speed manual with 40k miles. I drove the car home in the pouring rain Thursday evening which was only 3 miles from where the car was dropped off to my house. The car seemed to be fine.

The next day around 6:30pm I decided to go for a ride. The car has temp tags on it and is fully insured. Backing out of my garage I thought something seemed weird with the car going into gear (the e-brake was disengaged).

I drove the car 7 miles to my buddies house and as I was driving it was very hard to get the car into gear, even worse when from a stand still. When I got to the top of my buddies driveway, the car would not go into any gear. With the clutch in, as I moved towards first gear the car would start to creep forward slowly.

When the car is off it goes into all gears just fine. Another odd thing is, when I started the car to drive to my buddies the dash showed the light for the e-brake being engaged how it should. After getting to my buddies when I put the e brake on the light does not illuminate on the dash.

I had the car towed this afternoon to a very reputable shop and they are going to look into it Monday morning. I spoke to the gentleman I dealt with buying the car (a dealer) and he was very nice and told me he would cover the cost (depending on the issue).

My first instinct is something to do with a slave cylinder perhaps. The seller told me when the car was put on the transport truck it was in perfect mechanical order. He said he drove it 20 miles to meet the shipper at the pickup location.

I am in Connecticut and when the shipper was in Philadelphia, his truck broke down and they had to move the car to a new truck and trailer. I am not sure if the 2nd driver burnt out the clutch or damaged something.

I know the car is going to get fixed but I am just curious of anyone’s input on what they may think is wrong. I’m beyond upset that within 24 hours of the car in my possession that it had to be towed.

Thank you in advance.

Raymond

When releasing the emergency brake, your thumb must be on the button the whole way down.
