Db9 mirror swap.

Does anyone know if a 2013-16 db9 gt side mirror will fit a 2006 db9? And are there differences between Volante and coupe? And lastly are mirror covers and glass interchangeable for those years?

Yes,

A 2013 DB9 GT mirror will fit a 2006 DB9, some of the early DB9s had a different trim on the inside of the door covering the mirror, the later version is attached by 3 screws, if yours is the earlier trim you will need the later one.

Volante and Coupe Identical.

Covers are definitely not the same, not sure about the glass.

The 2009-2010.5 mirrors are my favorite. The mirror base is the same, but the mirror head is not as tall as later years. I recently installed them on my 2007. I'm still deciding between painted or matte carbon for the mirror caps. Right now I've got a set of unpainted black plastic volvo caps. It doesn't look super great, but 90% of people will never notice and they keep the bugs out until I get the permanent ones on.

Can you post before/after pics?

Also, where did you source the mirrors?

I had the 2009 Mirrors before, one of my bases snapped, it's just cast aluminium with a right angle between the upright part that supports the mirror and the section that is screwed into the door with no bracing, not very strong.

The Carbon Fibre mirrors have bracing between the two parts.

To be fair, the 2009 mirrors aren't any more or less sturdy than the ones that came off my 2007. The aluminum bases are pretty similar in construction.

Here are some before and after pics.

Before with original mirrors.

After.

I wasn't trying to suggest that the 2209 were any less sturdy than the earlier ones, just that the alloy ones have a weak design in my opinion.
I only mentioned that I had 2009 before as the before and after pictures wouldn't show much difference. I do prefer the look of the latest ones though.

Another advantage of the later mirrors is a better field of view as they are further away from the body.
