Exhaust vacuum actuator
Exhaust vacuum actuator
Hi all! After de catting my 06 V8V, the noise it makes is....loud. A little too loud :-)
So, I installed fuse 22 and started-with no reduction when it comes to noise. I can hear the vacuum pump starting. Today I shoved a camera up there so I could see the actuator (which by the way moves freely) and had the missus start her up- with NO movement whatsoever. Now, I don't know whether it should move or not upon startup, but the actuator is at max stroke with engine and ignition off. Any hints of what to start checking?
Cheers

My V8V had a BB on each line to prevent vacuum "installed" by a previous owner, a PITA to figure out. The pump was working and the actuators freely moved, so I went down the rabbit hole of the hoses. I used 200 cell cats and its LOUD when open, so I can't imagine completely de-catted. Good luck.
I agree with you about loudness. I rally enjoy the pops and backfires but sometime it is too much. I don't know if this interest you but I put a fused switch in the spot of 22 and ran the wiring to a toggle switch in the ash tray.
Soo, after dismantling inner arch liner to get to the pump, I saw that the vacuum hose had popped out of the rh side actuator... Sometimes easy fix problems are a blessing :-)
All good now.
