2023 DBX: extremely loud stone/pebble impact noise under cabin floor
Hi,
Just took delivery of a CPO 2023 DBX (~2,000 miles, under warranty) that I shipped overseas. Car is in otherwise excellent condition and drives perfectly.
The issue: whenever I drive over any road surface with loose pebbles or small stones, even lightly chipped highway asphalt, I hear extremely loud impact noises inside the cabin. It sounds like stones are being flung up and hitting the underside of the car with unusual force. The noise is loudest under the doors / sill area on both sides.
I've owned and driven a lot of cars and never experienced stone impact noise this pronounced in any vehicle, let alone one in this segment. It does not sound like a mechanical fault, timing seems directly correlated with road surface debris, but the volume and sharpness seem abnormal.
I had the car inspected locally on a lift. No loose guards, underbody panels, or obvious detached components were found.
Some specifics:
22 wheels, OEM tires, correct pressures
No warning lights, no handling issues, no other unusual sounds
Happens at both low and highway speeds
The loudest point in the cabin is directly under the doors. Sound is stone hitting metal.
Questions for the group:
Is this level of stone impact noise considered normal for the DBX? I understand the underbody aero setup and wide tires will produce some of this, but the intensity seems excessive.
Are there known weak points — missing clips, sagging trays, thin liners — that owners have identified and fixed?
Did anyone resolve this with additional underbody sound deadening, mud flaps, or OEM/aftermarket parts?
Appreciate any input from owners who've experienced this or had it diagnosed
