Noise during acceleration?

Hi gang,

Ever since I have had this car I always thought that the "sound/noise" I heard during acceleration was normal...

Since I have been in the market to sell my 996, I had an interested party test drive it. I was told that the sound may be the transmission pinion shaft bearing failing...

If I could describe the sound... it would be like a revving/grinding but not grinding type of sound... It only happens when gas is applied.

Thoughts? Cost to have it checked out/repaired?

I had the same thing under load. Worse when the car/weather was cold. Thrust bearing $6 K (although they did a whole bunch of other stuff while the trans was out).
