In CA you pay tax on the full price of the car regardless if you trade in. in NY you pay tax only on the difference of the trade and new car (CA rips you off!)
anyhow, I basically paid the tax as I got a better deal on the Mercury than the Toro.
You only live once (at least thats what I told myself to feel better!)
