HBL/Audi of Tyson's Corner
Hello 6Speed! I have always looked around on here but never posted since I have owned an E46 M3 for the past two years and spend my forum time on M3Forum. Well, with the new E92 really not appealing to me very much, I have become very interested in the RS4 and more so the RS5 when it gets here.
Well I went up to HBL yesterday evening after noticing that they had an RS4 in their used car lot. I spoke with a used car salesman there (who barely spoke English and conversed with me for 5 minutes on how a used 335i on their lot was faster than my M3
) for a while and then inquired about a test drive after being extremely impressed with the cabin of the car. He told me that he would have to go and ask his Manager if that was acceptable??? After having a 15 second exchange with his Manager, he returned to the car to tell me that I was not able to test drive the car without getting a sale in place first and start filling out paperwork. This was just simply outrageous to me. I have owned several NEW BMW’s and have never once been told that I could not test drive a car prior to negotiations, EVER. The only exception to this that I could deem acceptable would be at a Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini dealer, but a 63K USED RS4? In all of my years, I have never been treated so poorly by a dealership and am outraged that this is how their team practices business.
Have any of you here had experiences with these guys? I am completely amazed at how these guys operate and am very curious to see what thoughts you guys might have.

Yeah, it is not like I do not have alternatives but I just could not believe these guys! Thanks for the response, I will check out what Rockville and Alexandria are like this weekend.
Give the guys at Flow Audi in Charloettsville a call. I just got my wife an 08 S6 and we took it out on two test drives, different days, with and without the salesman. Call and ask for Howard Grooms @ 434-296-4147 the guy is great. If he ask tell him John Carrington passed his info out. Oh and as far as HBL, it's simple no test drive, no english, NO SALE! Don't let one Audi dealership keep you out of an Audi. We traded the wifes BMW and have no regrets.
hey NPalacioM3,
I just got an audi a4 from HBL and my man there is called Joseph Jay. I can guarantee you the best price on the market.. Just go there and ask for him,, tell him Karim sent you.. he will be more nice with you, he'll even break his back to make you happy.. give him a try!
Btw out of curiosity, the guy u spoke with there, was he quite tall with long hair gelled backwards?

aaaah yess.. the good ol folks at HBL... 2 months ago i went to inquire about a 07 A4 vert for the wifey, and all i came out with was a headache. They truly do not know how to treat their customers, and the salesman had the decency to tell me that my truck was not as good as the Q7.... Lets just say rockville porsche/audi has my money and my future money... S5 please! haha

Update:
Ok, I just got a call from their General Sales Manager (Danny Niblett) apologizing for how I was treated. He was forwarded my email which I had sent to the Penske guys (Owners of HBL) and called me just now here at my office. He has asked me to come in and meet him and get this relationship started where it should have in the beginning. He seemed very genuine and really got me back in HBL's good graces. Does this mean I have to buy the car now?? :rofl2: I am going to arrange something with him next week to meet up, this weekend is just going to be too crazy.
I will keep you posted but I could be the new owner of an RS4! Although I really think I want to wait it out until the RS5 appears!

Yup, same car! I was pissed myself but this General Manager straigtened it out, just had to send an email to the right people to get their attention.
We did not even get into a price discussion, not even close to that point. I will keep you posted, I should be taking the car out next week.
