Thinkin' About a 2008 S8
The old lady is done with her second Cayenne Turbo and wants to get back into a car. I love the new Mercedes Benz S body style but she is keen on the Audi S8 in Ibis White with the Premium Package, Carbon Fibre Kit and the B&O sound system which is a ridiculously priced factory option.
Anyone care to chime in on this Lambo powered, understated beast?? Lead this lamb(me) to slaughter....

I wouldn't say that the B&O soundsystem is ridiculously overpriced... it is expensive, but the sound quality is absolutly amazing.
I test drove one about a month ago, its fast as hell, has a beautiful interior and a understated but gorgeous exterior. I would take one of these over the Merc any day.

The car is a monster. I haven't had the pleasure of driving one, but I have been in one. The interior is to die for, with no exaggeration whatsoever.
The B&O sound system as said above is quite expensive, but the quality is unmatched.
The tweeters rise from the dashboard when the system powers up....come on...what's cooler than that??

That price gap is much worse in Canada Arling. Current Canadian pricing has not "adjusted" to the much stronger Canadian dollar as we pay far more for a vehicle here. Price structure is predicated on historical exchange rates when the U.S. greenback was worth far more than now. New car dealers are getting screamed at here because clients want the advantage of our much stronger Canuck buck.

King City is just north (30 km.) of Toronto on Highway 400. My sister lives on Grant Avenue in Winnepeg!!
... and you're right about Kingston, maybe an old 914 but no Turbos to be sure.

Oh well ****, I'm really near grant, just off of Academy! River Heights area to be exact. Small world.
My 08 S8 should be here within this month. I was very impressed with the way the car is designed, built, and drove. I don't care which luxo-box you guys compare it to but NO S-class, 7 Series or any 4 door car in this class could ever touch how the S8 drives. It drives amazingly small, its powerful enough to humiliate 99% of cars on the street and its as quiet as any Lexus. The B&O system is THE BEST audio system I've ever heard in a car including the (Linn Audio in Aston Martin, Mark Levinson in Lexus and junk Harman Kardon in MB or BMW.) definitely worth every penny. Before I decided to go with the S8 I have considered the S63/65, Alpina B7, BMW M5/M6, MB E63/CLS63, Bentley CGT and many others. But I'd have to say the S8 came on top because of its well balanced performance, comfort and user friendliness out of all those cars. If anyone is looking to get a Luxo-DD with all weather capability the S8 is second to none!
I spoke with Pfaff Audi and they have a 2007 model on the floor without the carbon package but with everything else that is on our option list. I have an option on that car or a factory ordered 2008 model. Factoring in depreciation, etc. is not as big of a deal as the alteration(s) between the two model years. Any insight on what was changed for 2008?
It's a 3 month turnaround on a factory order which may work out well as the winter's annual puke on our roads will be on the way out by then.
