r8 any feedback on the rtronic ?
I have driven both numerous times and own an R8 with R-Tronic. I find the R-Tronic every bit as engaging as a 6MT since I can shift up or down with the "stick" but shifts are MUCH faster, no clutch to deal with and if you intend to track the R8 you will run away from the 6MT guys with the R-Tronic. Auto mode is not fun, however one must remember that the R-Tronic is not an Auto by most measured standards and does what it can to function like an Auto when in Auto mode. I am very comfortable with my choice of the R-Tronic, however if you are a pureist you may find not "shifting" in the conventional sense will take some enjoyment from your R8 ownership. I know it won't for me, in fact it make my R8 just that much more fun to drive!

MAN, I love my R-Tronic! I just spent three hours running "honey dews" in the R8 in town. It just cant get any better or more enjoyable than leaving my wrist on the console and bumping the stick up or down depending on what I want the R8 to do with my feet flat on the floor. Just the best of both worlds. Would not change my decision to go with the R-Tronic for any money, little alone the $8K upcharge!

I'm not sure how applicable this comparison is, but I had to make a similar decision when purchasing a Gallardo. I first test drove an e-gear, and found it cool, but fundamentally boring. I went with the manual transmission, and absolutely love the gated shifter.
I have a deposit on the V10 R8 list, and plan on going with the manual transmission.

r8
I normally would go with the manual without question, becuase I don't like the F1 in the 360, and like the manual better in the Gallardo as well. But, I don't think of the r8 like a true exotic sports car like the 360/430, or porsche turbos, or lambos, I think of it more like a cruiser.

Only if you don't keep your foot on the brake, then it stays in gear.

if so, then it should be looked at
I don't get along with electronic cars .. It took me 15 minutes to put the new X5 in reverse.
