Anyone own a 3.2 quattro???

Considering an '07 Audi A4 3.2 Avant, manual, quattro, s-line, that is for sale. Replacing my R32.

How is the power? Is it fun to drive? Going to be a DD.

My sister used to have a 3.2 A4 quattro (now 2.0T) that I got to drive pretty often. It is far better than the 2.0T in every respect--unless you are planning on modding the engine. The added torque and quick throttle response really changed the character of the car and the power is more than adequate for a DD.

Coming from an R32, which I have also had some seat time in, you would be disappointed in the 2.0T. The avant+quattro combo weighs a great deal as well so that is something to consider.

Good luck with the decision.

Thanks for the response.

Would you consider the trade an "upgrade", or do you think I may be a little disappointed with how similar they are?

Sister has an '05 3.2 sedan and I've had significant seat time. Definitely an upgrade from the R32...luxury and build quality wise. Fun, I'm not so sure. I would say my '08 R32 is definitely more fun to drive. Comfort and space, A4 wins.

Agreed. The R32 is definitely faster and more sporty. The A4, especially with that engine has that "typical german luxury sedan" feel to it. It is most definitely an upgrade in all aspects aside from sportiness.

If you are complimenting it with a sports car such as a C4S then it makes far more sense than an R32 as you would have the best of both worlds.

Wife drives an A6 3.2...different car, but same powerplant. It's more than sufficient for daily driving, but it's not a speed demon. Decent torque when passing on the freeway, but it doesn't have that "turbo" kick like the old 2.7T used to have.

I'm currently driving an 05.5 3.2Q....i've also compared it to A3 2.0T and A4 2.0TQ as I had a fair share of time in them....the 2.0TQ with a chip is simply much more potent then the 3.2...if I were to do it again I'd stick with my 3.2 simply because..NO TURBO NO CARE =D ...

in regards to being fun, it's not too bad... on the track I manage to keep up with my friends mkV GTI, for most part anyways, both was first time on the track....

The 3.2Q A4's are awesome to drive. Great power and great braking. These are actually pretty sought after and hard to come by at my dealer.

WOW, Thanks for the response guys...This certainly helps my decision process.

Does anyone know if the 3.2 can be "chipped" or any cheap mods for a few more ponies?
