Any Feedback on GIAC X-Chip for A4 2.0T?

Hello Fellow 6speeders,

I just purchased an 08 A4 Avant 2.0T for daily driving and was wondering if anyone has experieced the X-chip by GIAC. They claim 41hp/73 torque increase. Any feedback would be appreciated..... reliability, CEL issues, performance, etc. TIA

Hi bpanos,

I'm not sure where you saw the 41/73 figure but it's the realm of what you could achieve with other mods.

From GIAC's site;

http://www.giacusa.com/programs.php?mpid=123

"GIAC performance software for the 2008 - 2006 B7 A4® 2.0T smoothly delivers a 18-50hp and 50-85 ft-lbs gain. For optimum perfomance the software must be coupled with a cold air intake, exhaust, and the latest factory upgraded rail pump (although GIAC offers software options for all factory rail pumps)."

You will not get a CEL from the GIAC software. GIAC is the most reliable software out there IMHO (and Flashing the files onto your ECU vs the old solder method takes any reliability questions out of the picture). GIAC is VERY concerned with factory reliability and safeguarding your warranty (where some of the other companies are not---ie increased Flash counts and firewall security breach issues with their software).

Be careful with some of the other "top" software companies--some of them don't use 100% stock code for the basis of their software so if you get one of their trials, you can get a CEL after the trial vanishes as it doesn't revert to 100% stock code.
