You Who Own or Have Driven an R8...

Please give me your opinion on this car.

How would you compare the R8 to other cars -- 997TT, 430, Etc.

If you have driven this car then any favorable or unfavorable observations about the way it feels and performs are appreciated!

The car is great. I love the handling and the practicality. I remember one time going to San Diego and had to bring some give aways for a show.....I packed the car with 146 t shirts plus a small cooler. The car has adequate room, very comfy to drive. I actually got more attention driving the R8 then driving the 430 or a gallardo.

My dads R8 will be here soon, but he has driven one on the track. And he loved it!
The handling is amazing the R-Tronic shifts soooo fast!!
And on the Homestead track he got it up to 168 on the straight, before heavy braking

The R-8 is more nimble than my G, trans shifts better, (I have older e-gear) has more room, etc, but power wise, sound, (V-10) etc the G is better. Ill know more later on the track..

Seems like a great, practical exotic that may lack a bit in pure "holy ****" power. Seems alot like the NSX. Of course, waiting for the V10 turbo or upgrading the current version would no doubt cure that. You could also get an R8, and then build something like an EVO with the left over money; best of both worlds

I drove a friends r8 and was really surprised at how comfortable the car was despite its purposeful nature. plenty of head and shoulder room and the magnetic suspension really does its job, it was as easy to drive as my s4. The gated manual shifter feels awesome, the clutch is light but easy to modulate power is linear and strong and acceleration is deceptively quick. the handling is very balanced no pronounced over or understeer at all. I agree with SiNzz's comparison to the NSX its an accomplished sports car with exotic looks that can easily be driven every day.

x2. the RS4 has a better 0-60 and better 1/4 mile time. the R8 should be faster for being a supercar.
