Question GMG Exhaust for RS4 B7

I have been looking at Exhaust

Not that impressed with the Miltek from a quality point of view, so looked for alternatives...

http://www.gmgracing.com/audi_exhaust.shtml

My only concern, this maybe too loud(for the UK), the Japanese owners mentions something at 2,000 rpm .. but god knows what he is actually saying ..

Does anybody have one here ?

Sounds fantastic. I've watched that RS4 video probably 8 times. I've got a 2001 S4 and I would love to own that blacked out RS.

arrh, but I really need to know if the exhaust could be a pain in the *** ...it's a delicate balance between sounding great and a head ache ..

I have the GMG exhaust, thermal coated. After about 1.5k miles it is really breaking in nicely.

I too was concerned with getting an overly loud exhaust, especially one that would drone while driving on the highway.

There is no highway drone with the GMG exhaust. In low RPM's, it has a nice loud growl, but in the higher RPM range, it quiets down quite a bit, unless you are going at full throttle. Oh, and the sound when you lift off the throttle, it is amazing. It really is the ideal exhaust for a daily driver, loud around town and quiet on the highway. Looks great thermal coated too!

Highly recommended!

+1

GMG installed one of their first units on my RS4. I've had about 15K miles on it. It is significantly louder than stock in sport mode but not any louder than the Milltek resonated exhaust. The tone is much deeper and better than both stock and the Milltek. It is loudest between 2k and 3k but no drone. At higher RPMs the exhaust does not drown out the sound of the big V8. The burble when you let off the throttle is one of the best sounds the exhaust makes.

The thermal coating is something I regret not getting. I got the polished finished but I think the thermal coated finish looks much better.

Sounds nice but honestly I prefer the exhaust note I have with the Milltek exhaust but I do have downpipes.
Also it seems the cans stick down a bit far when you are looking at it from an even level but who looks at from there.
I am sure it is well made as are components from GMG and the is nice and deep. Go for it.

RS4ed,

Have a look at the following, as they say pay your and take your choice ..

I know you can't really see the dam thing, but I don't like the tack welding for the rear bracket and the overall quality.

The rear exhaust tips I know were/are going to be replaced free of charge by Miltek ... so they do back up customers. this may be due to the worst weather the UK suffers ..

So for me it is looking like a GMG as Fabspeed don't have anything, and since I may want two systems, it depends if GMG want to do a deal considering the shipping and tax to the UK ..

This is the one thing that bothered me a little. You have to play around with it to get both ends even looking. Mine is just a little off, but you wouldn't notice it without being totally **** (like me). You can tell in my picture that the under bracket between the two ends is a little crooked, but that is how it needs to be to have the tips even. Overall quality on the unit is really nice though!

Ladies and Gentlemen.

Thanks for the positive reviews of our GMG WC- RS4 Sport exhaust systems.

We appreciate all the feed back you have given us over the last year and it has allowed us to build what we feel is truly the best sounding system for the RS4. The sound is tuned for the RS4 in particular and as you can see the center "resonator" is much different than the other systems on the market. All the materials and workmanship are first rate on these systems.

Many of you have opted for the black thermal coated tips and the cost was high due to the work that was involved in sending them out to the thermal coaters after the systems were already produced. This work is not done at our facility but out sourced and it is expensive.

We are working on having the tips thermal coated prior to production and this will signifigently reduce the costs and should marginally bump the price on the black thermal coated option.

Thanks again for all your support throughout the years..

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me directly, I look forward to hearing from you!
