I'm not a fan of the huge wing...but with that car its probably needed!...that thing looks just killer from the front!

 

I love the rear diffuser!

 

Do they sell this as a body kit? I would love to look over and see a gigantic wing cruising by on the freeway.

 

^ I wouldn't. Looks fine as a functional race car but atrocious to me as a street car. IMO, the R8 is way too classy to be driven around with a wing like that on the street, functional or not. Let's hope Fast and Furious 4 doesn't get any ideas from this.

The fender falls away to help relieve pressure buildup in the wheel well at high speeds. This allows higher downforce and better aero balance. It also imrpoves airflow around the wheel, which helps with brake cooling.

On older DTM cars you'd see a big vent on the flared door instead of the cut away fender, but nowadays the designers want to maximize the track width of the car, which means that they put the wheel as far out as the rules allow, so there isn't any extra bodywork on the side to use for a vent.

Looks weird, but is VERY functional.
