^ I wouldn't. Looks fine as a functional race car but atrocious to me as a street car. IMO, the R8 is way too classy to be driven around with a wing like that on the street, functional or not. Let's hope Fast and Furious 4 doesn't get any ideas from this.

The fender falls away to help relieve pressure buildup in the wheel well at high speeds. This allows higher downforce and better aero balance. It also imrpoves airflow around the wheel, which helps with brake cooling.
