What kind of Porsche? Pretty surprised to hear that there is much difference in the backseat of a S5 vs. a 996/997.... I would expect the S5 to have a little more room, but not enough to drive a change...

very different cars -- sports car vs. GT type car... will be interested to hear driving impressions

The S5 is much more comfortable for 4 people than the Porsche. Really - sit yourself in the back of both and you will see what i mean. (plus i can actually car more than 1 suitcase in the trunk!) As far as the driving impressions - it is absolutely a pure sports car vs. touring coupe. The S5 does not feel nearly as connected to the road as the Porsche. The steering wheel does not transfer information as well - and when cruising on the highway feels quite a bit more "floaty." But...

The S5 does have a certain cache when on the road...i am not too proud to admit that i enjoy the fact that it attracts a TON of attention. I see dozens of Porsches on the road...i have only seen one other S5 in the past 6 months....and i live in a major metro area.

Overall - i am very happy with it...i figure when i can justify buying a summer car i'll look at the porsche or an r8 for the more sporty feel.

I just went from a '06 Cayman S to an '09 S5. The difference is night and day with regards to size, ride quality, driving dynamic, and amenities. A big factor is my S5 is a tiptronic and the Porsche was a manual. Imo the Cayman was a "go-cart" compared to the grand tourer the Audi.
