What do you drive daily?
2008 VW Rabbit "S"
black/black 5speed manual 2 door
What I like: Cheap monthly payments, well made, excellent MPG, a big improvement from my last car (97 Ford Exploder)!
What I don't like: Slow (2.5 inline 5 doesn't have the kick I want sometimes), 4 door would be nice from time to time, but not always, manual gearbox is kinda quirky - anyone that has driven a VW will know this... Def. not like a BMW or Porsche's 'box.

hubby DD is:
'99 996 which also goes to autox. =) we get our money's worth! lol!

pros: same as mine, w/o the cabrio part of course
cons: room in the back for the doggies. there is a harness bar installed. it makes things tight back there!

my car already had a good jump start on upgrades, but if you were to start from scratch, plan for a little over 10k.
my daily driver (i take public transit to work, station is about 4 miles from my house) is an 06 vw jetta 2.0t dsg. not the most exciting car in the world, but so far it's been pretty reliable thanks to the audi drivetrain, and is a fun efficient car to tool around in. it has most conveniences (nav, leather, sunroof, ipod connector, heated seats, etc) so is comfortable. i mostly take my 01 m5 out on the weekends to mtn biking and other trips...and am dreaming of an rs4, but it's not meant to be right now.
I've got a 2000 S4 (2+)

and a 98 A4 1.8T Quattro 5spd for nasty weather.
I love the S4, period. It's just great. I hate dumping money into it here and there but just an all around awesome car, especially here in WI.
The A4 is a real solid car and I picked it up for a steal. I hate the lack of power compared to the S4 but she's been good to me.

Daily Driver:
2004 Audi S4 Avant. Full Milktek Exhaust.
Love:
EVERYTHING! Perfect Colorado daily driver. Enough power to merge on the interstate and AWD + Snow tires to go Snowboarding =)
Hate:
That the Ducati and the Porsche is at home.
